Quote: from TomGermany on 10:53 am on June 10, 2005 Does anybody know what happens to those who have an overstay of 10 month and more? If they are not catched by the police and just want to leave the country at Don Muang Airport. There is a 200 Baht per day fine at a maximum of 20000 Baht. Is that all or are there any more fines and charges?
You better hope you don't get caught going to the airport. It's the monkey house for you if you do get caught. I stayed over 87 days one time and just paid the fine at the airport. Nobody said nuthin to me. I ain't so sure about 10 months or more. Chok dee, as they say.

No matter how long you overstay, it's always a maximum of THB 20,000. No further fees or questions asked.

This is what I thought, but wasn't positive enough about it to say so. I never had a problem leaving on an overstayed visa. Just pay the fine and walk on.

Sorry to hijack the thread a LITTLE bit but I sure as sh*t don't want to get caught overstaying - that just seems to be ASKING for trouble if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. However I have a question about repeated "visa runs". Guys always make a marathon of this, going to another country for a day or more. It happens that I have three (legit') passports so I was wondering about this: Can I go to a border post, get stamped out (on one passport) then turn around and walk right back in again, getting stamped IN in another passport? If this is no hassle maybe I could stay indefinitely and legally - because anyone checking a passport wouldn't see any consecutive stamps, it'd just look like I visit every 3 months or so. If you think this'll work, any suggestions as to the most suitable place to do it? The next (and bigger) problem will be how to support myself there indefinitely of course - lol, F.

Felix888 Of course you can The only thing you cannot do is change passports within Thailand, but then why would you want to?

I have 2 passports. Passport 1 had no more space for Cambodian visas so I decided to use passport 2. It worked but it was a major hassle. It is really not worth doing. Much easier and quicker to use just the one.

Thai immigration, at this time, does not care about consecutive stamps. It does not matter if you come to Thailand every month (like those who stay here and do visa runs) or come every three months (what it would look like if you used three different passports). You still have to leave when the 30 days (or whatever time you have) is up. If you leave for 5 minutes (a visa run), that is fine. I have many, many entry and exit stamps in my passport, and I have far fewer that many other members here (those that stay permanently and do a visa run every month). No Thai immigration agent has ever said one word to me, nor do I know anyone who has been questioned when doing visa runs.

Dr Love is correct this time. I left LOS on 14 June and overstayed only 7 days. Paid 1400B and no further questions. However I spoke with the main man in that section at the airport and said a friend of mine had overstayed 5.5 months and he paid 20,000B at airport and was allowed to leave, no more questions. The man said, " no problem, just pay 20,000B, but dont get caught in the interim otherwise you will not have a great selection of food at meal times. Rice, rice, rice, onion, prawn and more bloody rice, monkey house food. My mate has returned to LOS a few times since and no problems, I think they call it "Subai Subai". If you are Intending to stay more that 1 month after you arrive, write off 1 day to cross the border for another month. I think that is an easy price to pay for what might and could happen. Thats my bit, except to say that I am bloody cold here at home, its quiet, nearly crying and saying to myself, "what the f*** am I doing here". I have a return ticket and looking to get back to LOS. Have fun guys/girls, keep the Falang flag flying, Barrafish.

You might want to check - last I checked it's a felony to do what you suggested. You are supposed to use a SINGLE passport for travels... switching passports in mid0travel can result in expulsion or loss of that particular passport. What you are proposing is called immigration fraud.

& why the f*** would you need to? You can cross into cambo (pay the 1000 baht visa fee or whatever it is) & come back into Thailand 20 minutes later. What you are doing is to try & make something really simple into something absurd. Edit In: I once overstayed 10 months or something. Paid the 20 grand. They were as happy as a pig in shit.
