The people who believe in the 'New World Order' tell me that one of the important steps is to remove 'Nation State Identity'. Rather like Stalin did in the 1930's. Instead of forcing people to move like Stalin did people are now doing it voluntarily. Hence Britain is inundated with immigrants from eastern Europe and Africa. The Brits then (If they can) vote with their feet and move to Spain, Portugal and France etc etc. Spain being the most popular. Tony Blair ordered the police a couple of years ago to stop people waving the 'Flag of St George' (you can sit down now) in London. This mixing up of nations is happening in Europe so the British allegiance (in theory) then becomes Europe and not UK ! (what was the Second World War about ?) One European Currency = One European State ! This has even been encouraged in football over the last ten years where British football has been flooded with foreigners (before there was almost none).
This 'system' is then extended to the World where we become part of the 'Global Village' or Global Community' and we no longer have nations as such but a 'One World'.
This is happening now.
Sorry Harry but I know what I am talking about on this one! The 'key' to the Americas is NAFTA. This will become the American Union from Canada all the way down to the tip of Argentina. (They are already building the highway to link the whole thing).
Europe started with EFTA (European Free Trade Association) then it became the 'Common Market' and now the European Union with one currency = Euro.
The Americas will begin with NAFTA (North American Free Trade Association) then ? ' *****' which will become the American Union with the US dollar as the initial single currency. America is becoming truly multi-ethnic as is Britain.
This 'system' can even be seen among the International Airlines grouping themselves into 'Star Alliance','One World' etc etc. Those multinational tail designs that were so unpopular at British Airways were not just a marketing exercise. There was more to it.
I find very few people that are aware what is going on. When they do know it will have almost happened.

in answer to the ps.. I am in the IT industry and yes my timing sucks... I've now missed tow great long term contracts in Asia.... but mai pen rai.. I'll get around to it sometime...

Some ideas for those fancying a move to LOS - well a precis of what I'm "attempting" at least.
1. Build my business here and then flog it in 2 years time (I'll be 44 then).
2. I read a post over a year ago about the US guy who ran porn sites but moved to live in BKK. I have since set up an online business (in a very loose sense). Currently turning over about $3000 a month with costs of $1000. Should keep growing but like any business its open to risk, i.e. new entries into the market, vagaries of search engines etc. The beauty of this is, as has been mentioned many times, it can be run from Timbuctoo if I wanted.
3. Purchased (via a VERY trusted Thai family friend) a few small businesses in Thailand - currently only making total profit of around $5000 a year.
On the latter score I am back on the 9th April to view 5 hair salons - sometimes you can pick up a gem. One has bugger all profit but 21 empty rooms above it just perfect for BG accommodation etc. Might have to collect the rent "in kind" lol. The low profit means its selling for less than $15k and will come down further too.
As with any business you should look for "potential" rather than at the existing figures alone. There are hundreds of businesses for sale in Thailand ranging from $500 to $millions. If you want the name of a guy who sells them AND can advise you on work permits (some businesses come with them), Lawyers etc just PM me here
All in all there are LOTS of alternatives to teaching and usually far more lucrative too. Not that teaching is a bad thing - IMHO a very worthwhile way of getting by here.
