Personally, I think he should buy a go-go bar in Pattaya. He will still lose all his money but will have more fun doing it.

Broken Leg, I got all the pillaging and burning out of my system when I was in the Military. I know a fair amount about chemistry, so applying that to soil shouldn't be too much of a stretch. A couple of books ought to take care of that. Hey, there's probably an Army Field Manual on the subject, there is on everything else. The advice to start small and diversify are good. But how do you start small with a farm, and have any hope of buying additional land adjacently? If I add little plots of land over time, I'll probably end up with a patchwork all over the dang province. Maybe the thing to do is buy bigger plots and lease out what I'm not planting at the moment? Regarding the Thai partners, I do have a TGF who may end up being one of the partners. I'm still in the process of evaluating her character. She seems like a genuinely nice girl (office manager), whose family owns several farms in Isan. I'll likely get some useful information from her older sister who seems pretty sharp - she owns a farm, also does agricultural brokering, and manages other peoples' farms. Daffy Duck, no hard feelings. You're right, in your own sick and twisted way. By you provoking me, everyone else got more info out of me than was in my original post, which helped me to get more advice in return. Ftumch, you can just kiss my ass, eat what you find there, and like it. Perhaps tender brown morsels in a delicate au jus would be just what you need. Green Acres, now that was a good show. What the heck was the name of their Asian pot-bellied pig? I think that pig was the smartest character on the show. I gots to get me one of them for my farm. 4 more days, and I'll be in Pattaya, hitting the ground running.

Arnold Ziffle is the pigs name. If you don't know a regular hog from a Asian pot-bellied pig, I don't think farming is your calling! The only farming going on here is your TGF and her sister, The've sown a cash crop! Bubbling crude..... falang cash!

I admit the last time I saw Green Acres was maybe 18 or 20 years ago, but I would swear that Arnold was a little pig, not some 800 pound boar. No way he was a common live-stock pig. Maybe he's got a fan club on the internet where I can look it up for sure. If I'm wrong, and he was a huge, gross boar, standing 4 feet at the shoulder, then I will buy you a case of chang and the bg of your choice.

Ah, he appears to be some breed called "Chester White Pig" I found it here: http://www.tvacres.com/pigs_arnold.htm It's a good thing I have no intention of raising pigs, as I know nothing about them, other than they taste good. I don't know how big Chester White Pigs get, but the photos show a cute little guy.

With pork being one of the main consumed meats in LOS, and the recurring bird flu that affects the chicken supply, I'd think that you would seriously consider raising pigs. They are easy to take care of, eat anything, are clean, and smart enough to come in out of the rain..lol.
