I am moving to a new apartment next week and want to buy a small, cheap safe to keep my passport and money in, something like what they have in hotels, but it does not need to be digital. Anyone have any ideas?

Off the top of my head, I'd say a hotel supply place. Maybe ask someone in a hotel that has safes.

safes are for sale in many places.. just keep your eyes open..
I have not looked at the emporium, but probably somewhere there...
also, if you are sort of permanent in Bkk, check out the furniture shows.. they always have a couple of companies selling them...
the small safes have to be bolted down.. so make sure you have someone to do that.. otherwise they will just take the safe..
friend of mine had that happen to him.. and it was a bigger safe, but they just took it with them

I noticed there's a retailer on Sukhumvit, between Emporium and soi 24 [same side] almost right accross the road from the entrance to soi 33. Seemed like a diverse inventory in the place.

Go to MBK on the funiture level they have a couple of shops selling all sorts of save, reasonable price too.

I bought a safe at MBK recently.
Paid 11,000B for a big 2'x3' unit which can hold my laptop. It is also 47Kg so it takes two to move it any distance. Plus there are holes for bolting to the wall.
Electronic with backup key entry. You get a battery plug too in case the internal batteries die before you change them.
Got it on 5th floor MBK; furniture level.
They did have cheaper versions in the 5000B range but not large enough to hold my laptop.
Also mine is NOT listed as fire proof; this feature adds about 30-50% to the price.
They delivered it the next day.
