Issuing a new passport in a rush outside my hometown in France has proven a bit of an headache and I gave it up. Yet my book is only valid only untill middle of January. May I fear any trouble from immigration authorities during the couple of trips I need to do to Thailand in July and August??
Besides any idea wether I can dodge the 6 month visa validity rule for India?? if I apply in BKK next week it'll be valid, like 5 months and 3 weeks.

Cheers!

just found a link where it says french need passport valid 3months after arrival date for a stay inferior to 30 days and valid 6months for a stay superior to 30days. Saw several links though where it says at least 6months. Others only talk about a valid passport. Not really clear

I'm bored sometimes to live of no fixed abode, simple bureaucratic tasks become serious hassle...

Thought about the airport check in desk in Paris, as they've been known to deny boarding to people on a one way ticket.... even though I have a TG gold card, fly business, and I'll bring the copy of the internet paper, dunno what may happen... If possible I'll try to fly friday instead of saturday so it leaves exactly 6months but not much hope I'll be ready for friday.

A friend of mine entered Thailand a couple of years ago with a passport valid less than 60 days, so I don't know how much trouble one may get ?!?

Having been in that predicament last April, with a passport good for another 4 months - I was told that this is at the discretion of the customes officer upon arrival, if less than 6 months remain. This was pointed out to my by China Airlines boarding agents, as they had the get the information.

One of the admitting criteria, is if you had a number of prior trips to Thailand, and no troubles (i.e. overstay).

It was no problem at all upon arrival, for me. In fact, the customs officer didn't even bat an eye.

Obviously, your mileage may vary quite a bit in this case. I'm getting my pasport renewed this week for my next trip.

As with most things in Thailand, there is no way to predict what might happen. The law says you will have problems (doesnt matter if your passport is French, American or from Bongobongoland) because Thai immigration requires it to have six months left.

But who knows what will happen when you rock up and are faced with the human face of authority? It will be completely up to the whim of the official - maybe they're too lazy to look, maybe they couldnt give a toss, maybe there's a large queue behind you and they want to get them through quickly so he/she can go read the paper while taking a dump. Or maybe - just maybe - you'll get the guy whose wife left him last week for a french tourist.

Bon chance!

He is right.
i had to fly to AUSTRALIA two days ago.
I spent two nights in Ho Chi Min city. VIetnam.
(by the way Vietnam Airlines has a camera pointing out of the cockpit and shows the takeoff and landing on screens) Interanational flights
And the Guys drilled me badly for half an hour over the travel stamps.
All valid.
But sure get an arsehole (this guy for some reason hated Australians ) and they can go after you.

Thais same same.
So either be front of a daunting line.
Or fix it is best advice

Careful with the Indian one. The embassies that I have visited go by the book.
