The reason I ask is because I mailed a big box of novelty lighters back to the U.S. Because of the weight I opted out of air mail and decided to try freight shipping. Well..now i'm having some doubts about every receiving it. It's been over the 2 months projected shipping time so i'm guessing either asshole U.S. customs on our side intercepted it for whatever reason or it was lifted before it even entered into international waters. What do you guys think? Has anyone here shipped anything using freight before?

I live in Pattaya.
I have tried sending mail from both the Soi Post office p.o. and the Chomtien Post office and much of it goes missing.
I also have packets of my mail sent out from England
and it too sometimes goes missing.
I have heard that it is a bad idea to display anything financial in the address as it leads the staff to believe that there is cash inside.
Letters to Paypal and to Barclaycard never seem to arrive.
Don't have credit or debit cards sent out to you but if you must do not put the PIN number in the same envelope.
Better to have somebody open your mail and tell you a PIN number over the telephone.

Whenever I am in Indonesia, PI, or Thailand I use either Fedex or DHL. I know then that the package will arrive undisturbed.

When I am in China I really do not bother because it does not matter what I use it is usually inspected.

Hmmm..

Maybe the Chinese know me too well ...

If U.S. customs intercepts your mail and inspects it, they will put a piece of tape over it indicating that it was inspected. If they confiscate it, they will send you a letter in that regard, allowing you to challenge the confiscation. I've had both happen to stuff I've gotten from overseas, so I think you'd know if U.S. customs was the culprit. I'd put my money on the local boys.

Then again, I've sent stuff from the Nana PO and the Pra Khanong PO to the U.S. and never had a problem, though it was person to person, and I listed nothing expensive on the sheets.
