Oh, what a tangled web we weave
When we practice to deceive...

At least that's the way I learned it.

This being Thailand, I hope I won't be charged with sedition, as this is so counter-culture...

Anyway, I am selling all my stuff, and I have a tiny, bank-teller type, 667MHz Celeron cheapo that I bought at one of the used-computer shops in Fortune Town. I bought it to learn about Linux, and I have installed at least four different distributions on it, and it works pretty well, if somewhat slowly with a GUI. It's pretty painful with WinXP, but once booted, it works OK, too.

I wanted 3000 baht for it, and 4000 for a 17" Samsung LCD I use with it, total 7000.

I also have a 6.9 cu. ft. frost-free, 2 door, Samsung refrigerator, w/cool ice cube gizmos, also 7000 baht.

Lest this sound like an ad, I will point out the reason why I post it here: my TGF's sister in-law would like to buy the refrigerator, and has a friend who wants the computer. Of course, my TGF is handling all this, and the sister-in-law wants a discount on the refrigerator. She wants it for 5000 baht.

So, between my TGF and her sister-in-law, they decide to tell the friend that the computer is 9000 baht, so I will sell the refrigerator for 5000!

The sister-in-law is willing to screw her friend, to save 2000 baht for herself.

OK, fair enough, but now I have to keep a whole new set of pricing in mind, not post flyers in my building advertising the REAL price, etc.

What I would have been happy with, as in "Take it or leave it!", has become an intrigue of the first order...

So, today, I printed out the opening two lined of my post, and carefully explained it to my TGF, which was, of course, futile. Just a guilty laugh, and a suggestion that I go out for lunch, while her sister-in-law, and 'friend' came to see everything, and did the deal...

This is truly "Living Here"...

Yes, this sounds quite normal for here in Thailand.

Incidentally, I was having a drink in a bar the other night and bought a young lady a drink and before you could say "Get your kit off", the drink became the definite precursor to more intimate exchanges and an understanding that Boom Boom would be involved along the way - not that she had to get her kit off, for she didn't appear to have any on at the time of the drink.
