Yo,
This next trip is going to be an extended stay and I would like to watch football (Yank) live at home.
Do any of you guys utilize a slingbox?
It's basically a cable box that you hook up to your tv in the states (or wherever) and synce it up with your laptop and you can watch any station you have on your home tv on your laptop anywhere in the world. I have heard it is hit or miss in Thailand and only works about 40% of the time 
Other option is live streaming, does anyone know the best site for streaming sports? (free or pay)

I always use slingbox. Some hotels have great Internet and streaming is very good. It is much better this year than in years past. I use the HDMI cable and plug it into the HDMI jack in the TV's at the hotels. When you have slower streaming, using the buffer pause is sometimes better. Stay behind the feed

I am thinking of getting a new Internet deal at home that will have TV and 25 / 50 Mbps internet so I will have the speed to send out a signal but am worried about getting it on WiFi.

I was able to get solid streams from some hotel wireless connections. I use a 3 meter hdmi cable to give me plenty of room to get the CPU onto/next to the bed, rather than next to TV or on desk. There are many places where the wifi only gave me a signal strength of about 80 on the slingscale on wifi, some gave me 700+ It also various on time of day. Just becuase signal may suck when you first try, it can be fine later. #1 priority at normal hotels is making sure I have a 4-5 bar connection to thier Internet, otherwise I'm changing rooms before I unpack.

Slingbox rules, I seriously do not think I could live abroad w/out it 
It is exactly like watching TV on my sofa in the atl, minus my 50 inch plasma of course, but I plan to get a big ass monitor

"Big Ass" is an American slang term for "sweet/nice" and makes no sense at all I know...kind of like when we say "shit load" for "a lot"

Slingbox is the way to go. Make sure you have a decent broadband speed at home.
