Hi guys, this is my first post, but have been scanning the forum for some time now, soooo much useful info! I'm planning a world tour to start in January, and my first port of call is Thailand 
My plan is to stay in Thailand for 2-3 months. I know I need a 60 day visa, and will be applying for this shortly.
My itinery is as follows.
1 week Bangkok
2-3 weeks Koh Samui to meet up with some friends
Back to Bangkok for a month (renew visa)
Travel North to Chiang Mai for 2 weeks
Then back to Bangkok before traveling south to Malaysia to continue my world tour. Unless I'm enjoying myself too much, then I may extend 
My questions are:
1. Will I have any problems renewing my visa?
2. Is there anyone who fancies meeting up for a beer?
3. Has anyone hired a BG for more than a week or 2, say a month, or is this a bit dodgy?
4. Am I better off staying in hotels/guest houses or finding an apartment? The better deal I can get the more baht I'll have for the ladies 
5. Not including BG's how much money a month am I likely to need for food, lodgings, misc etc.?
6. I'm a rock/metal fan, are there any bars/clubs that cater for this kind of music?
7. I'm all for the girlfriend experience, will I get this more from a BG or freelancer?
I'll leave it there before I get too carried away with more questions
Can't wait to get there! Theres definately something about those Thai ladies.

Check out the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate. you could apply for a 90 day Tourist visa, unfortunately, it would be single entry. So, once you exit to say, Malaysia, it would be void, and you would be entering on 30 days again.
1. Normally you get a maximum of 10-14 days if you tried to extend your Visa here in Bangkok. If you made a trip to malaysia, you would get a 30 visa when you returned.
2. No problem. Why not meet us during the Round Tables.
3. Why?
4. If you are moving about, forget the apartment. If you plan to stay put in one place, then the apartment would be a good idea and less expensive too.
5. Check out this page, work out what you need to get daily and multiply it by 30.

As for question (3) Is this a bit dodgy? I meant, will I have any problems when it becomes time to say goodbye, I've heard that they can get a bit posessive/clingy? Is this true, or will it be, theres your money see you later? I just thought I'd get more out of keeping the same girl for a longer period of time. More time to click in the bedroom
I'd heard of the RT meetings, how do I find out when and where they happen?

In general yes. Most of the girls will be 'clingy' especially if they like you. And yes, they do get possessive too. If this is your first trip, please don't get a live in yet, fool around first!

Welcome to the forum, I wanted to give you my opinion for point 3 of your first post.
TGs do easily get very attached and they will care a lot for you. I have always made my point clear from the start, i. e. limited time together, no common future and so on.
As BK says, if this is your first trip, fool around as much as you can. Yes, fool around!

Cheers Bandit. I fully intend to try a bit of everything in my first week, before I travel to Koh Samui. I thought that if I found a really nice girl, not necessarily a stunner, then I could arrange to maybe hook up with her for a month when I come back from Koh Samui. I don't really want to take a girl there with me as the people I'm meeting are mostly female (no won't be any freebies  ) and it might dampen the atmos! Women can be a bit funny about this sort of thing. I will however try and sneak off on my own to sample the delights of Koh Samui
Thanks BK. I'll keep my eye on the RT link, could really do with some good advice, and it would be nice to meet up with a few other enthusiasts seeing as I'll be travelling alone.

It is me again. One thing I forgot... If you choose a TG for a longer term, make clear in advance how much money she is expecting. Not only that you will have to pay all expenses and shopping, she might very possibly be asking money from you as replacement for her salary.
As for the nightlife and your own freetime you are mentioning. Once you are not single anymore you are delivered. TGs are very jealous and can cry out in tears instantly, other bros in this forum can certainly agree on that...

In answer to your question number 6:there is a really good heavy metal place with live bands playing mostly well known metal from famous bands.When I went there last year the band playing that night played mainly Black Sabbath tracks and it was excellent.It is situated around the corner from Th Sarasin on Soi Lang Suan just north of Lumphini Park and if I remember rightly opens at 10 or 11 pm.Their telephone number is: 02-255 1913.This place is well worth a visit
