Don't mean to split hairs but it looks like you are confusing nationality with country in this thread.
The OP wrote "American girls"... Yes, people from the United States of America are called American. We are not referred to as Statsians or Unitedites or anything else. People from Mexico are called Mexicans. In Canada they're Canadians. Someone from Peru is a Peruvian. From Brazil you'll get Brazilnuts. And so forth.
If people from USA calling themselves Americans is unfair, well, looking at the founding of the country and recalling that this is the English language we're speaking, you could expect a little ethnocentricity in that.
However, yes you're right, there is a common usage around the world of people saying "America" when in fact they mean "USA". Probably because of the name, United States of America. But maybe that is not fair. Other countries could change their name though--for example, like Mexico's estados could be los estados de Mexico de America--and then they could call themselves Americans too if they like. Others could follow suit. Some might even like this Utopian vision.

The situation is just like a lot of people still refer to anyone from erstwhile USSR as a Russian. (Although here, the analogy is in reverse).
I stick to my point of view - and I'm sure that several others too will support this. You're free to hold on to yours. After all "America" is, territory-wise, the largest democracy in the world. This forum too seems to favour democracy.
Since this is getting way beyond anything linked to this forum - so may I seek your (and others') apologies and end the point here? We may be able to have a  if we bump into each other at Bangkok - (who knows). Would you mind that????

This video was rather funny...no doubt about it. As an American I love everything about my country...except our women which fail miserably compared to TG's as women from any farang country do.
Italia Thug's idiotic (although characteristic) assertion that some of the chicks "look better than anything in Rainbow" makes you wonder why he doesn't keep his ass in Virginia.
Alas,American girls ARE dumb,but they are absolutely brilliant in using whats between their legs to get through life--Ask any guy who has to beg for sex on his anniversary (AKA Al Bundy)
One more thing, although inferior to Thais, I believe US chicks are the best of the farang girls of the world (for what that is worth) as some of the European and Australian girls I have seen in LOS were H-E-I-N-O-U-S.
And If you don't believe me spend some time in LA or Orange counties.
