Yangon is a great city? Might be worth checking out. Is it a great enough city to live in for a year or two - say 10 months a year?
I met a gal from Myanmar. She is stuck in BKK, illegal, no ID, no visa, no passport, looking to go home. No money of course. She has got some very strong negative opinions about Thai girls.

Go to the Nataree on Ratchapisidek, I'm pretty sure most all of the sideline girls there are from Burma. They are of Tai Yai decent and come from around Tachilik, Burma, a city across the border from Mae Sai. On my last trip I also banged chicks from Burma in Chonburi and Hat Yai. And all of the girls that I banged were working in massage parlours.

Note that Tai Yai ("Shan" in English) are NOT ethnic Burmese and speak a language very close to Thai, totally unrelated to Burmese (though of course like the ethnic Lao and Khmer in Thailand, they grow up having to speak the language of their colonial masters, so they do speak, read and write Burmese).
They are treated like shit by the Burmese and have been fighting them via an armed insurgency for years. Just saying, if you should have interactions with any of these girls, do not call them Burmese...they are most decidedly not.
