Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know about an experience I had at Pathuwan House. It is across from MBK and is a serviced hotel/apartment.

its about 150 yards from National Stadium BTS and is a great value at 14,000-16,000baht a month (depending on maid service). at least that was the rate a year and a half ago. 1,100 baht daily fee.

I lived there for the first 6 months I lived in Thailand, paying 12,500 for a studio. before finding a great studio walking distance to my office for 10,000 baht a month with maid service included twice a week. I got burned a few times on the air con/phone bill, but I did not have a cell at the time, and ran AC 24/7.

hey I was a newbie

anyway, to make a long story short in my 3 years in BKK I sent over 15 visiting friends and friends of friends that emailed and asked me for advice. Not one bad reply, and several appreciative emails. I did not actually know a few of them.

girl friendly, some receptionist will give a unapproving look, but no sneers. Only thing to add, bring a shower curtain liner with you or pick one up at Big C as the showers have no curtains on them (????mai loo)

the location is not the most ideal for naughty nightlife, but its certainly not out of the way and is actually good if you dont seek that every day of your trip. MBK, discovery, and Siam Square are easlily walkable.

so, of course if you want to spend 1 to 2 grand US a month you can blow it out of the water, but if your looking for a great value at under 500 month (total) check it out.

cheers,
atl

Sounds like a really good value. I've got a colleague looking for a place in that price range.

How close is the National Stadium BTS stop to this place? And what road is it on? Do they have a web site? Telephone? Email?

I googled it and only got pathuwan princess, which is a 5 star hotel connected to MBk (owned by the same company).

I have put an email out to 2 of my friends asking for contact details, they have stayed there 4 or more times each and loved it. On their 4 to 5 day jaunts to samui, Ko chang, etc they just locked there big bags in the bell closet and took backpacks, no charge and safe.

I will put up contact info as soon as I recieve it.

cheers

atl...good info thanks

Would be interested to hear more about the room facilities? Clean? Does it have microwave? etc Did reception take ID's of your friends? I had no luck finding this place on google either...so hopefully you can come up with the goods

I'm also considering a couple of other places including VP Tower.

I don't know a hell of a lot about the Victory Monument area (not worried about being close to nightlife)...but close to food & BTS is a must.

Cheers

Hi,

VP Tower and VC Monument Area are ok !
I lived in VP Tower more then 1 year alltogether and it's very convenient.
--Pro's:
* Spacious rooms all with balcony and bath
* Good beds
* Room service till 9PM, good food with good price
* Cleaning twice a week incl bedsheets replacement
* Near BTS, shopping center and 3 7-11's !
* 40 B taxi ride to NEP in the evening (10-15 min)
* Girl friendly, no need to put ID cards at reception
* Local calls for 5 B/unlimited
* Nice swimming pool on 4th floor
--Cons:
* Rooms can be a little worn out
* Not much choice in TV channels (NO UBC)
* No direct line possible for ADSL etc
* In studio's no cooking facility

The area is ok, just walk up to the soi next to the park (coming from BTS) and you will find a lot more new smaller scaled apartment, all about starting at 10000 B per month.

Cheers

I'm new to this forum so excuse me if my questions are rather bland. I'm gonna stay in bangkok for 4 nights with 5 persons. Thought apartments are better than hotel. Budget not more than 2500B per night.

Which apartment is better based on :
1. Near to BTS
2. Safe area to walk at night like 11.30pm
3. Nice/clean/value for money

My choices are:
1. The Residence Rajtaevee
2. JS Tower
3. Patumwan House
4. P.T. Court

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Karma,

I only know 2 of those mentioned, but you will not go wrong at patumwan house.

Christ, they should be paying me for the props I give them here

As I have posted before, about 7 or 8 of my friends have listened to me on this and none have been dissapointed.

I think the price may be in the 1300baht ($30 US) a night range these days, but still well worth it.

It is nice as it is across from MBK about 50 meters from BTS and easily accesable to PP, Nana, SC.

cheers,
atl
