Greetings:

After reading the threads in the forum, as well as visiting the apartments actual corporate websites I've narrowed my choices down to three places (Centre Point, Emporium and Solitare Service Apartments.)

Question #1: Which place would you stay taking into account:
- one bed room and NOT a studio.
- price
- apartment furnishings
- location
- over-all comfort
* All three are guest friendly, so that is not a concern.

Question #2: After chosing the place, where is the best place to get a deal via the internet. I've check their corporate sites, planetholiday, thailandhotels.net, hotelthailand.com and a some other sites. Does anyone one of another site to check out?

**** I've posted a second post so my original question does not get lost in my answer. ****

IMO: they are three places are great and pretty much equal.

The problem is that I need to chose only one. Since it makes no sense booking 3 hotel rooms for one person!! ha ha ha!!

Yeah, I know. I could book 3 rooms and take 3 different tg's out for an evening and put one at each place and rotate around. That's a good plan, but not in my plans!! ha ha ha ha!!

Anyways.........

Emporium seems to more expensive out of the three for around the same sqm worth of space. I'm not sure the increase in price compared to the value is worth it, compared to other two places.

I'm leaning towards the Centre Point apartments for what you get for the price.

Would be interested in finding out what other members thought or any other information or things I've over-looked in either of the three places.

Thanks.

Emporium is a big name in BKK

Girls like Emporium....impresses them.

Very shallow reason for choice of course...but we are guys after all.

If price is no concern, I think Emporium wins hands down because of the location. You have excellent restaurants/food courts/grocery store right inside the complex, and the Emporium is directly connected to the BTS skytrain on the second level.

i found my serviced appartment just by walking around the sois in the area that I wanted. if money matters, you will probably find a better deal this way.

i stayed in soi 18 for half a year. just a crawl from cowboy...

enjoy

I have been staying in the President Solitaire for the past few trips. Highly recommended! The negatives are very few but are:- a little far down Soi 11 to walk from the main road (they have a cute electric Tuk Tuk shuttle but only from the Apartments) and the price.

Absolutely guest friendly (including when I bought 2 home for drinks!!!), great Pool, fantastic rooms with nice furnishings, real kitchen & the DVD/42" Plasma TV! Usually get it for around 2700 Baht!

depending on your length of stay you will get the small rooms in the solitaire as low as thb 1,600 per night.
very stylish place, biggest negative for me is the lousy food. what is a room service worth when you only get crappy food! (May be I am to european on this one!)

Yurune, Mr Alan, buxeda, Oz, and Griffin:
Thanks for you opinions. Much appreciated.

I should've posted that my length of stay is about 7 days.

Girls like Emporium....impresses them.

I hope that my personalty will be all I need to impress the ladies. If not, then maybe some $!! If that does not work, then they won't be seeing the inside of the room no matter which place I chose!! ha ha ha!!

Solid points. I dont mind paying as long as I see value. Still not completely sold on the Emporium for the price over the other two places.

As for location, Centrepoint is also very close to Emporium. Within a 15 minutes walk I believe. But, then again. You never know with the humidity. A short walk could feel like a 50 miles hike!! ha ha ha!!

If I guess if I weren't so "anal" then I could do that. But, I need to have my accomodations set before I visit any destination. *grin*

Price is a negative? Thought the price was very ecomical compared to other service apartments with similar sqm's and furnishings.
As for the tuk tuk. I can either walk or I'll have a private driver, so that won't be a problem.

DVD/42" Plasma

A huge selling point, unless they only get two channels. Okay. If the two are sports channels, I'm set!! ha ha ha!! Anyways, would be just like home for me!! I guess having a large TV could make up for my other short comings. I'm talkin' about my temper!! ha ha ha ha!!

I agree and I'm not european!! ha ha ha!!

Yea, agree on the Food, hardly ever ate there (did not use room service), the breakfast was marginal (much better in Novotel Lotus) but I had a couple of OK Lunches. Still, plenty of places nearby to eat.

Agree on breakfast. Had dinner only once there. Rooms are okay. Longest I stayed there was for 5 days (for work), after which I moved closer to the action for the next 3.
