If anyone has stayed there before, could you please give me some feedback on the place. I am planning to stay there 6 months from October this year. Their website is not that informative. How are the 1 bedroom apartments? How far is it to the BTS station? How is their girl policy? Thanks in advance!

1 - By foot around 10 minutes. 2 - As it's more of an apartment building than a hotel, I would say no problem with bringing in girls.

I thought you lived in Bangkok? It's only a stones throw to the Grace Hotel, on soi 3, so location is very good but about equidistant from Nana or the Ploenchit BTS really. Entrance is just across from the Zenith Sukhumvit Hotel. The place is a good value- got at least one VIP I know living there- I had a look a few months back at two one-bedrooms. There was a huge difference in the lay out- one woulda been very liveable and the other not, IMHO. The liveable had its bedroom tucked off the side, midway in the mainroom and a second, airy windowed room overlooking soi 3. Non-liveable had the bedroom over soi 3 [to much noise and light] and seemed danker and mildewy. Landlord quoted a rate that was flexibly dependent on length of stay. They have a nicely landscaped lot with a pool off to the back. For a 6 stay it could work- just be careful of that layout.

Thanx a lot Dr. Love and Skip... I might consider the place. As I will work on South Sathorn, BTS connection is very important to me. Actually, I lived in Bangkok until 2002. Then I got relocated to Tokyo and in 2004 to Shanghai. Well, if everything goes right, I shall be back in October for a 6 months peroid. Never had a look at City Mansion during my Bangkok times...

Tokyo and Shanghai, eh? And where are those FR's, might I ask? Fallen behind in your postings a bit there, eh Mack? Okay, buckaroo, I'm affraid you got it coming then Not to worry though, show up at a RT or two, tell a tale or two [dozen] and we'll let bygone's be bygone's. South Sathorn for work, eh? Rainy season is coming up here. My new boss has me fairly concerned about commuting through the intermitent lakes forming in the streets. Business attire, monsoonal rains, and jaunts by motocy just don't jibe. If your like me you oon't want to depend too much on motocys and taxis to get you to your appt. and back to the BTS. You will be without your own transport then, is that right? If so, I'm not sure I'd endorse the City Mansion for you. What is your budget? That's among the most important criterea, I think. There seems to be many places near to South Sathorn with a wide span of costs that may suit you better. Tell us when do you start the position?

The position will start at 15 October 2005 and I'm already looking forward to a bit of change. Tokyo and Shanghai are both awsome places. Sure, there are thousands of good stories to report... but in my case not so many p4p related ones. My budget is up to 100k. However, I think a 30-50k place will do for me. The rest will rather be invested in drinks and fresh pussy. I don't think they will give me a car, so BTS should be fine. The office is very close to the Chong Nonsi stop. As I only have 6 months, I want to live close by the action. The perfect place for me would be near to any BTS station in the lower Sukhumvit area. I'm also considering Evergreen Place at Siam, but I think City Mansion sounds not too bad. If you have any other recommendations, I'm glad to consider your advise.

I may be off on this, but isn't City Mansion the place with the hardly ever used tennis court way in the back ?? IMHO the place is a dump if your budget can easily handle 50KB/month. Much better off at the Omni on Soi 4 or Saranjai Mansion on Soi 6. At Omni go to the RE office. not the hotel desk and agent will rent for 6 months (they want 1 yr of course) for good rates... 1BR/20-22KB. Saranjai is similar around the corner on Soi 6 and has balconies with views (altho all of the the construction going on may not be to your liking) Also the big building set back down a small Soi to the left of Saranjai is classy and spacious and big 1BRs there are 40KB. JFYI...

^ bbkfella, sounds like we're posting on the same place. I wouldn't call it a dump though, spartan maybe. But your right, with his budget there are better options to be had. And the walk alone to the BTS is too great to be walking daily in business atire. BCM25- Evergreen Place came to mind before I read your post. I've been twice, to check it out, I was so seriously considering it. Their pool looks great, gym is very good, laundry services on site look to have their act together and offer you the choice to either do it yourself or let them do it for you. Though it is not at Siam, it sure is near to it. With the exception of Emporium Suites it is the closest serviced appt. to any BTS station that I am aware of. But it is at Ratchathewi BTS. You can walk the skybridge right into and through the Asia Hotel next door, come down to street level, and pop around the building to access the Evergreen. Plus, the klong Sang Saeb with a loading dock access is a short block away. MBK and Siam Discovery are within eye sight. That makes for some great transport options. My only complaint with the place was the appt. layout- too many doorways and a cumbersome design between bedroom and living room for my likes. Being that you're in your Mack Daddy prime of life and know the scene here well I would think you would do well to be so close to the Siam Sq. area. I'll diligently be doing my own scouting for apartments beginning Wednesday, and our requirements are similar. Soi 14 comes to mind- it has a dynamite location with some nice looking apartments on it- the trick is to go regularly and spot the ads posted on the phone poles. My employment situation is within easy walking distance of Thong Lor BTS. So, although I'd prefer to be on that soi I am also scouting for all options within a short walk of the MRT or BTS. I'll share what I find with you, via this thread or PMs, as I scout for the right place.

Thanx a lot for the postings. bkkfella, I have been to the Omni a couple of years ago and I didn't like it that much. Saranjai at soi 6 and the other place you mentioned might be worth checking out. They don't have a website, do they? The other places I know from back in the days are Admiral Suites and House by the Pond. I liked House by the Pond. Had a couple of xxx-rated pool parties up on the roof. The 1 bedroom apartmenets were okay for the 24k/month. Too bad that it's a little deep in soi 22/2. Skip: Soi 14 sounds great. I'm looking forward to hearing from you....always an advantage to have a cool dude in the neighborhood. Evergreen is still on my list. I once visited a friend there and I think it's a very solid place with a good value for money.
