From what I read the Ascott apartments are over-priced and not that many people see it as value for money.
I have never stayed there as it is priced at a level I feel inappropriate for my situation.

Ascott can be a great or lousy deal, they try and sell very different rooms for the same rate. Think it's 100K + a month for 1BR premier, 5000 to 6000 per night for the same rooms.
Besides I'm looking for other options in high end serviced apartment with large (around 100sqm) 1BR suites, any idea?

In the course of my apartment hunt, I checked out 2 of the Ascott propoerties as well:
1. Ascott Sathorn:
I went in there with mixed feelings, as I do not like the bar Hu'u downstairs (nice optics, lousy drinks, horrible food upstairs), you never get a cab in the evenings (I used to work in nearby Empire Towers and know the feeling and the location overall is not brilliant.
Set aside this, the room, I liked most 1BR Premier 97 sq.m. was brilliant. Better furniture than the rest of places (except Emporium maybe), no old sleazy carpets, nice pool, great gym, professional ambience.
To cut a long story short. The room is even better than the 1 BR Grand Deluxe at Emporium Suites. Only the location is worse.
Right now they have a massive promotion going on, which gets down the prices (monthly). Should be worth a thought.
2. Somerset Lake View
Looks great on the website, but the pace is not. Small pool and the furniture is old fashioned. Did not do it for me.

And the price is????????
Lot of hot wind but not any conclusive facts in these reports.
tsd,, if you want to throw up old reports, please at least post recent pricings.

Price is as always subject to discussions. Right now you can get it for 90K/mth. but only until June 30th. Rack rate is 120K/mth.
Emporium has same rack rate but can only be negotiated down to 110K/mth. However, maybe other folks are simply better than me this is why posted rates, at least monthly ones (nett or ++, laundry included (how many pcs.7mth), internet....), are highly individual, at least IMHO.

tsd, I get your point re the pricing, but it's handy to have a reference point. You say 90 K,, maybe I can get it for 85,,, whatever, but at least it's indicative of the pricing. It will help others that are perhaps hunting in the 30-35K mark not bother looking and wasting time.

The Ascott 90K rate for June is, IMHO, not negotiable anymore.
Packing my stuff now. Committed myself to Natural Ville. Was not an easy decision. No miles or loyalty points (Accor) as well but overall friendly atmosphere which is important to me. Will post a comprehensive overview on the available alternatives the next days, which hopefully saves some time for guys in a similar situation.
