Bros,
I'm arriving in BKK in mid December and have decided to stay in a serviced apartment (as opposed to the usual hotels) in the Sukhumvit area, preferably within walking distance of a BST station.

I can't quite make up my mind which is the best serviced apartment in the area: I'm looking for a self contained studio or ideally a 1 bed apartment with self catering facilities as bonus - I will be staying there over a month and prepared to pay up to 45,000 Baht per month (1,500 x day).

Anyone with an up to date recommendation and a web link, would be mostly appreciated.

Thanx

Sarge

First, apartments in general like long term (3 months up contracts....) So, if you're only renting for a month, you have a disadvantage.

Maybe best to arrive here, browse the Bangkok Post / Nation and go through the Classifieds.

Also, the Royal President (the whole President Group) has ads everyday for monthly rentals.

One month rental... 45,000 baht. Don't expect too much.

Maybe so, but I've been looking at the Ambassador Royal Suite, and they state this is a serviced apartmets, and would like to hear from anybody who has used them.

Sarge---You might want to check out one of the Centre Point Houses. It sounds like it has the same amenities as the Ambassabor Suites.
I stayed at the one on Langsuan last March/April for 6 weeks and was charged less that 40,000TB per month. Water usage and elec. is an extra cost but minimal. Looks like you will be there during the high season, so I doubt you will get this rate, but it is still a good choice and I will stay there again on my next visit.
Centre Point Langsuan, or the one on Wireless Rd., is near the sky train and easy walking distance to Nana. Good Luck-----LS

Royal Ambassador apts. is run by Ambassador hotel and hidden behind the convention center and the gutted out open beer park on Soi ? 13
Its spacious, no hassles, good water pressure; shower with separate tub. Cheapest by far among close by apts, can use convention centers ammenities; pool lounge, tours, etc. A bit aged like the all the Presidents apts. Jomtien Ambassador is huge and where the companies money goes in Pattaya.
Stay at the Center Pointe all the way down Soi ? 10
they have newer apts with great service; pool workout center, restaurant, good outta the way place so girls cant find you too. As to the Suk area.
Few Bro's stayed way east in Floryvalle apts and they had spacious rooms with good ammenities for really cheap in comparision to Suk area.

WHy do you doubt it? It's just a couple of blocks up from Nana Plaza, on the left hand side. Maybe a 5 minute walk.

Close enough?

Ali,

I stayed at the Omni in March '04. Staff were brilliant. Rooms not bad but for Bht1,700 you're not going to get luxury. A few girls complained about the walk down Nana as if I should have been staying somewhere closer to NEP! It is, however, only about 5-7 minutes and yuo can take in the sights on your journey. I am going back on 17th August and will probably stay there again unless anyone tells me there is somewhere better.

After much thinkering I went for The Ambassador Royal Suite and got a rate of 44,280 Baht for a 41 nights stay (it works out 1,080 baht per night).

Looking forward to shopping for groceries at the Emporium food hall - I wonder how'd feel like to cook my own Italian meals in central Bangkok.
