Anyone ever stay at the Centrepoint apartment on Silom Road?  I was thinking of staying there next week.  I usually stay at Centrepoint on Sukhumvit soi 10 which I think is great.   The Silom location is a little cheaper and I was considering it...    Too far from the action?

Seems real nice on right on the river near the Oriental Hotel...

Not to be picky but I don't want you to get the wrong idea; it is CLOSE to the river but not next to it and it has no view of it. (Actually some of the rooms on the very top floors may have some partial view of it -- I'm not sure.) The rooms are fine but there is nothing especially appealing about it's surroundings. It's located adjacent to the back of a Robinson's department store and behind the Shangri La hotel. (Which is between it and the river.)

As for it being near the Oriental, I don't see where that makes any difference but it's not that close.

That CENTERPOINT is just steps away the Saphan Taksin BTS Station. You can hit Silom area within 5 minutes and Sukhumvit within 20 or so. However, you will be very limited on this after midnight since the skytrain closes at that time. Then, a cab will be your way of transportation afterwards, but that is not a problem at all.
I don't suggest taking a bus through Silom but, if required, you can take No. 4 (air con) in front of the service apartment....I was leaving for a little while in Charoen Krung, somewhere nearby Centerpoint before the BTS started its operation. That time I got a real nightmare to move on from there to Sukhumvit or the like in order to get some fun....the traffic was pathetic....have fun.
