My qualifications for commenting: One visit to EC (five stars!), many nights in BKK, even more in Pattaya, one week in AC, four days in Manila, a few other bits and pieces like Phnom Penh.
Manila could certainly use a place like EC. The bar scene in MNL is overpriced pushy and unfriendly and the attitudes, as Marc points out, are sub-standard.
AC is much better for attitude and price.
Why not set up in Manila, but source the staff from AC?
