Enlightening post above, Joe Wood, alluding to the possible evolution of a misanthrope. Basically this would be, as you pointed out, an adolescent process. However in an increasing number of individuals it climbs up through the 20's, and in a few cases degenerates an entire life. It's basically a regression to an earlier solipsic infantile mind of appetites... We all indulge a bit in it when frustrated. Anyway, I am not other than a self-trained trained psychologist. Persons succumbing to these symptoms are defending themselves against themselves with a ruse, by attacking others. This is the sad effect of intense narcissism, transference. They use the "Artist's Defense": "No one understands me here. The world is against me. The world is made of robots" etc etc. If they can transform other individuals into impersonal machinery (as alien as the unfaced emotions that are frighteningly pushing the sufferer around inside) then they can transfer this terror to others and buy just a little bit of time before they have to face the (now distended and increased) horror of simple bravery in the face of difficult human emotions of our natural condition in life and in society. This is a poor shell, and a betrayel of what artists are actually doing. One could be an artist in observation, just as well as an artist of music or construction or business or whatever. Real Art, as every mature person realizes (and I insist upon mentioning this because I've seen this poster refer frequently to his esotheric icons, which he wants to identify with only in order to have an excuse for his infantile rages), is to honestly take stock of our human condition within ourselves and others, and display it, in pain or joy, in order to better it. To better it. It is a rejuvenating process that can allow one to step outside of one's own suffering in order to embrace, endure and celebrate our larger humanity. A humanity larger than our individual neuroses, that encompasses our nature as a whole. If one hasn't heard the pity and compassion in French, yes French, artists such as Artaud or Celine, then I'm sorry Msr Amores Perros, you have really missed the point. Stop trying to be cool, relax, and realize that every person you meet is not a zombie... but someone just like you who is making difficult decisions to survive and prosper in a complex and dangerous world. You don't need to shock them, real life's shocking enough for everyone already once you've learned to see it. If you really believe that your actual nature is inevitably self-destructive, then I challenge you: you have two choices, if you are a man: Destroy yourself now and save others from the suffering you are planning on causing them through your helpless existence (not recommended) ; or two, destroy the depressed "it's all about me" "I want, I want, I want" ego which makes you think this way... come out of the black box... stop relishing your victim-mentality, poor baby... a miracle is just around the corner. If freedom is just an excuse to indulge one's infantile solipsic whims like a demoniac, one is utterly destroyed by it. If on the other hand freedom of mind amidst the internal and external forces that compel us, allows us to train ourselves and master these forces in a world in which we respect others as on a route to doing the same... then a life is created. Edenpapa, sorry to hear about your illness. All the best wishes for you in retirement. Thanks for everything.

Seajohn-- I really had some difficulty wraping my brain around what you said. Sounds like you put Carl Jung, Karl Menninger, and Freud in a blender and pressed the mix button. I think sometimes psychoanalysis can be a bit too academic. And then again, perhaps I just say that because I just don't understand it which could very well be the case. Some people are just raging, spiteful idiots incapable of normal social graces.

Mel G, Very good but the problem arises with those that have never tried it and still try to shit on the club and those that enjoy it. The Eden Club has many, many fans ---- I have never tried the club but have ventured inside, twice, I did not like the quality of the girls on display or the "one drink and choose policy." Even Marc admits that Eden is not for everybody and it certainly is not for me, I will spend my 4000 baht elsewhere.
