Ducknutz - I understand your explanation and appreciate that you are not using it negatively although that was hard to tell from the post in which you used it but the more people who see it being used commonly, the more people will think that no one would ever be offended by it. The problem is that there are still a large number of people who do use it negatively and we are not amongst friends here in a small group, this is a public board on the Internet.
Regarding your question about the movie "Pearl Harbor". That was a period piece with words that were in common use at the time. There was quite a number of complaints about that movie and it was only accepted to be shown in Japan because it was a period piece. But, by your same argument, one should be free to walk down the streets of Harlem in New York or areas of Chicago or L.A. calling everyone a "Nigger", with a smile on your face of course  , because you saw it in a movie once. Well, you would be free, how safe you would be is a different matter! ;)
That having been said, I'd go with you to a Japanese bar or nightclub if you wanted to but I doubt you would like it. Sure, you can see some nice babes but if you don't speak Japanese, you wouldn't get any where nor even if you spoke Japanese would you get very far because the Japanese night clubs operate differently.
One doesn't go into one and barfine a woman and then walk out with her. You go in, drink, sing songs, talk with the guys you went in with or met there while your hostess sits there pouring you drinks, ordering up your Karaoke songs and just generally sitting there looking pretty.
Then after going in there numerous times over a couple of months period time, with the knowledge that you will be in Bangkok for a much longer period of time, spending anywhere from 15 to 20 k each time, you might get a date but that would be about it unless you were interested in laying down some serious money.
Sound like a fun time? Not to me! The only time I ever go in one is to talk business with people from another Japanese company, I'd never go in one just for a night out. Besides, I've already got the finest lookin' babe sitting next to me so why would I need to go there?
All in all, you can do what you want to, which you would do anyway, it's just that I would appreciate you not using the term "Jap" as I've heard it too many times in a derogatory way.

Ok, I'll try not to, just for you and don't say I didn't do anything for you!
As for the kroaky places here, I have heard of a couple that far more hanky panky goes on in the first night than you explain, also in the places mentioned it did not matter that you were a farang once you got in, as long as you were happy to pay the bill. But getting in was the hard bit, it took the knowledge of a fluent Japanese speaker to get them in who I think was also known in there.
But I agree with you, it is not my prefered place to visit and pay the bucks for. I do not lose any sleep over it. But they are cute and I am a sucker on oops for a cutey.

when we visited Thaniya road we were already expecting that there are very, very few clubs who will accept non-Japanese customers. So to avoid embarassment/disappointment at the doors, we called some bars who displays their telephone numbers next to their neon sign and inquire.
Luckily there was a club on the 3rd Floor who accepts non-Japanese but they seem to a bit strict...asking our nationalities and age group before letting someone go down to pick us up.
Boomerang says it all about the kind of entertainment inside. Girls are also generous in giving their personal mobile phone numbers they have written on the club's calling card. However, some girls do not go out for sex (i guess they will but will take some time) and others are willing and charges Baht 3,500/- st or lt (can't remember, but this is a personal negotiation).

Seriously though, I do appreciate it.
As far as getting in, it can be the same here in Japan even for Japanese as well, i.e. being invited in by a regular. Japan is real big on having someone to blame if the shit hits the fan although you don't find this too much in your average local bar but then again, the girls in the local bars are nothing to write home about.
Blade - Good idea about calling ahead. I've collected a few calling cards myself although I've never used them. Actually the only thing I like about the clubs, at least the ones I've been in are that they are totally "no pressure" and that I can actually speak with the girl and have a fairly reasonable conversations but again, I don't spend a whole lot of time in them.
Anyway, I'm sorry I partially hijacked the thread and I'll let you guys get back to talking about Sing. I've only been there once, a while ago and even then only picked up a freebie at the old historical hotel, which I can't remember the name of but I'll be going back in the not so distant future so I'm interested in what you guys who have been there have experienced. Anyway, I'll shut up now. ;)

Well, the Singapore trip was a bit of a let down as far as extra curricular entertainment goes. The town itself is still as good as ever, some do not like it, but I love it. It is so clean and fresh, you can actually sit on the roadside in a cafe and still have a breath of relatively fresh air and at least its a lot quieter.
But the four floors of whores was not what I expected and geylang was to say the least very different, strange way of doing things there thats for sure. Orchard towers was by far out numbered by more head hunters than heads to be hunted, very disappointing really.

It is not that there wa NO action, it was that there were far more guys chasing the girls, than there were girls to be had. Every bar I went into the guys out numbered the girls except for 2 where they were empty and 1 was full of Thai girls, 2 of those were cute but hey when your in Rome and all. I really wanted to find a cute little Vietnemese girl, but no luck. As for the LB's, well they were not just on the 4th floor this time, they were all over the place and heaps of them and one in particular that was hanging around the bottom stairs, my god was she an ugly man, when you look in the mirror and realise you are an ugly man, what the fuk makes you think you will suddenly be a beautiful girl the minute you put on a dress. Anyway, big let down for me.
