I would agree with Cyber, Angeles City is dirty and doesn't rate with Pattaya in any category, except friendliness of girls. I was their last January, and also In August last year. My buddy prefers it, that's why I still go. I was stationed at Clark Air Base from '89 until the volcano went off and we all left in '91. It was great back then, as good as Pattaya, but the atmosphere of the place is nothing like it was and the quality of the girls is downright sad now, in my opinion. We found a few good ones, but we had to look hard. I am taking the entire month of Oct. off for vacation and am spending all of it in Thailand this year. My buddy will spend a few days in Angeles and then meet me in BKK. Have you tried Phuket? It's awesome, as long as the Navy's not in port, but that goes for Pattaya as well. I still love the P.I. and have some very fond memories, but Thailand rules!

I went to Angeles City this January due to friend of mine who loves the place and kept telling me how great it is. Well, compared to Pattaya this place is a dump. It is basically one street of bars and that is it it. And the street is a bunch of rubble. The bars are pretty nice and the girls are very cheap $20USD so there is no negotiating involved. The majority of guys over there tend to be 50 plus so if you are in your 30's llike myself the girls are all over you. Even if you are over 50 you will still get alot of attention as most of the bars don't seem to have alot of customers and have a ton of girls working there. They do speak English but still seemed very uneducated and and after about half an hour of talking about where they are from how many brothers and sisters do they have, how long they have worked at the bar they basically don't have much to talk about. They do tend to be on the more curvy side and there was some nice looking ones if you take the time to look but after about 3 days there I was bored stiff. There is absolutely nothing to do there except hang out in the bars. The food sucks and you generally get the feeling that you have to constantly be on your guard around the Filipino males. The quality of the hotels isnt very good either. The bars do stay open alot later though.
The main plus I found was that the women in general seemed to have a better attitude than the Thai women at half the price.
If you are in a bar and they like you they will be very affectionate towards you. I seem to remember it being like this about 5 years ago in Thailand. I will still take Bangkok or Pattaya over Angeles City any day. Too bad they don't sell San Miguel in Thailand.

Yep, got to agree with cyber and xtreme....Angeles really is a dump. Ok, yeah it's cheaper and some of the girls are seriously cute but the hotels just cannot match what you get in BKK or Pattaya for the money and the food has got to be the worst in Asia! Plus you've got the crap journey from the Manila airport which can take 2 hours or 4 hours.
Have made it to Angeles just once, in 1999, and don't think I will bother again. You do have to be constantly on guard against the rip-off merchants. That's the downside of too many people speaking english!
Never been ripped off in LOS over 20 years and more than 70 visits.
Maybe the one plus of Angeles in the bar-fine system where you know exactly what you're paying up-front. But then you get all this cherry girl BS as well. Ok, some girls in BKK don't go with customers but the rules are generally pretty clear.
For me, the high point of the Philippines was Manila in the mid-80s.....anyone remember what Del Pilar and Mabini was like when it was really buzzing before the mayor's crack-down started? Happy days!!!

I am confused totally . Many of friends who has philipino GF always tells me that Manila is the place (Angeles city)for real fun with beautiful & sexiest girl on earth. They are excellent in bed . That's why many get married or live together with philipino girls. leave aside their honesty etc. Now , I had almost decided to pay a visit to angeles city ,but all the comments here made me to think, if Is hould go at all. Because I dont like to spend time & money both. I have a plan first go to AC , stay for a week and come back and stay in BKK/PATTAYA for a week , refresh your self and get back to your routine work. If Pattaya is better I will rather stay in pattaya. Need more comments friends.
Of course BKK or Pattaya is safer than manila. But HIV rates are pretty high there than Manila . So there are good and bad points.

Bimlee, sorry you are confused. Point one, Angeles is some way from Manila - you can bus it or get a hotel or travel agent in Angeles to arrange a pick up.....it is at least 2 hours drive north and if the traffic is bad in Manila or the weather isn't good it can take a lot longer. Point two, yes, the pilipinas are cute and very sexy and there are plenty of them in Angeles although some guys feel the quality has dropped in recent years. It's cheaper than BKK but as I mentioned in my previous post, the hotels just don't match those in Thailand on a value for money basis. And the food really is bad......
Point three, there really isn't anything to do there except booze and chase women. Sure there are sights to be seen if you arrange transport but these are some way from Angeles. Point four, it is scam city.....just check out some of the Angeles boards before going there so you know what to avoid.....do not get into any card games with guys who claim they have met you before or are the security guard at your hotel etc etc.
Avoid the wet season when the streets can be flooded and power cuts more frequent.
Yes, you can have fun there but I just found that you can't relax totally...never know what's gonna happen next. But yeah the ladies are cute - maybe not as adventurous as the Thai girls.

why the hell do you want angeles city when you have got mabini and burgos street in manila. best lookers in teh philippines are working there. okay the prices are like bangkok level. but it is just you get the better quality in manila. angeles is the same to manila as pattaya is to bangkok. angeles and pattaya are rotten by old fat bellied "cheap charlies". so the real goodies always will prefer manila or bangkok!!!

Bimlee, if I had just two weeks, I would definitely just bypass the Philippines. I love the place for what it used to be, but even Manila sucks now in my opinion. I first hit Mabini and Del Pilar in '89 and it was great! I have been back recently and it sucks. You will be bored in Angeles in two days, forget it man, I have 30 days and am not planning to go at all. If you think traffic is bad in Bangkok, you are in for a surprise if you pick the wrong time to go anywhere in Manila. It is dirtier(believe it or not) and you do get the feeling of needing two sets of eyes at all times.
Xtreme: I wholeheartedly agree! It would be nice to get San Miguel in Thailand.
One hotel I would recommend in Angeles is the Orchid Inn, an oasis in the middle of a cesspool. http://www.orchid-inn.com/
I can't believe I'm so harsh about the place as much as I used to love it, but I'm trying to help, don't waste your time. By the way, have any of your friends that rave about Angeles ever been to Pattaya?

Bimlee: I can't say enough about the Orchid Inn. Great staff, great location, good food, great pool, immaculate rooms and grounds, great bar next to the pool, price is very reasonable. I stayed in the newly finished wing last January, and it was great. It is highly recommended that you book a room in advance as this is definitely the most popular hotel in town. The staff will bend over backwards for you(not THAT way). They had just opened the gogo bar right next to the pool, but I didn't even go in. It seemed to be the one bad thing about the hotel, the gogo bar, that is, because it makes for more traffic thru the hotel, and there are only a few dozen gogos right outside the door. I've stayed there 3 times now and wouldn't consider anywhere else if I do go back to Angeles City.
P.S. I have no financial interests in the Orchid Inn.
