i need to go do some searching now thanks for the links and the names..
anything i can do other than going to the casino everynight is a good thing ...i going to be dead broke in a few more days otherwise ...

It is already like five years back since I worked in the Visayas so my memory is fading and the info could be out of date.
As for the a go go bars, the most popular ones for us was Silverdollar on Osmena and St. Moritz off Gorordo in Lahug.
To pick up freelancers the places to be were Boulevard Restaurant on Osmena and... especially Club Circus a disco up the hill in Lahug.
On a night out with customers or friends our route by taxi was usually Our Place in Pelaez to get some food, Silverdollar, St. Moritz, Club Circus and then back to the hotel with some girls.
I remember two other a go go bars such as Viking and Club Cobra, but I do not know if they are still there.
And yep I almost forgot... avoid Colon in downtown late at night because this is a dangerous area.
Cebu City cannot be compared to Angeles of course and if time allowed we took a quick trip over the weekend up there, which was worth the travelling and money.

update on the philippines. Smoking is now banned in Makati City in all bars, restaurants, agogos. Elections are coming up, so they'll probably forget about it in a few months. Even if you don't smoke this is still an atmosphere killer, and a lot of places are losing business quickly.
Alternative: Ermita. Decent place to go for a shagging trip. Pick up freelancers in LA Cafe, a lot of students go here for extra cash, the place is 24 hours and nearly always busy.
As for Boracay...it's still a nice place, getting a bit built up now. if you're going alone estel i reccomend you pick up a girl in manila, the selection is not all that in boracay. worst come worse go to Basura disco in the middle of the beach, you can get lucky there. Unfortunately Basura means garbage in Tagalog and that might be the selection awaiting you.

You must be kidding. You mean the atmosphere of non-smokers having breathing problems and headaches from second hand smoke?
It's better to kill the "atmosphere" than to kill the people in the bars who chose not to be smokers.

Mr Alan. manila pollution is going to get in your lungs regardless. my point was anti-smoking laws are a bit too advanced for a place with as many problems as manila, maybe they could start by enforcing the existing laws before making bullshit new ones up. I can understand banning smoking in restaurants where people are eating, but this is ridiculous.

Froggystyle, thnx for the info. Looks like I may have to go 'a hunting on my 12 hr stopover in Manila!!! 
Do u have any suggestions as to a good local for a 31st birthday celebration in Manila ( I have 2 nights there before going back to Dubai)
