Well, in that case: I would *like* to call his statement shallow.
Just my personal opinion, not a "a mandated ed (d) ict". I get a bit "hypersensitive" when it comes to the PI.

I am endowed with quite an opposite feeling: it makes me feel secure. Although I don’t want to think to much about the fact that they have to buy their on bullets with a 100USD/month paycheck
I prefer having a guard that checks bags everywhere then seeing no security at all. KLCC in KL being the prime example. Any nutter can get in there. No guards no nothing in the tallest building in the world.
With regards to P4P...I think you get a better girlfriend experience with Filipinas but the sex is less exciting!

It sure is, as yet again I have to beg to differ. But this thread is getting pointless: we all have different tastes and experiences.

I can only add that, personally, I've never felt in any danger in Manila. I like the place. Same applies to Jakarta. Give me the energy, pace and chaos (plus the sense of 'edginess') of those places over HK, Singapore and KL anytime.
I don't care where in the world you are - the same basic rules apply. Don't look like an innocent abroad, treat the locals with respect, don't be an arrogant shit, walk around with purpose, stand tall etc..... you'll be ok.
Look like a timid, scared newbie desperately trying to keep hold of your wallet, and you're get into trouble. One of the weirdest sites is tourists walking around wearing belt bags around their gut - why don't they wear an sign around their neck saying 'please mug me, I'm a dumbass'?
Doesnt matter if you're in Paris, Bkk, NYC or the roughest parts of Manila. Employ common sense and you'll be fine.

Just a small point, but that is not correct. Not the guard thing (I do not remember), I mean Petronas towers being the tallest building in the world. Taipei 101 is the tallest building in the world.

BTW, I have never had any problems in my many trips to Manila, it is not as safe as Bangkok for sure but not many (or any?) major P4P cities are!
Stick to Burgous & Greenbelt! Filipinas are great, usually warmer than many Thais and most speak excellant English, great GFE's!

Hi guys,
I've read all the posts on this thread, but am still not sure if the Shangri-la hotel in Makati is girl friendly. Any advice?
I'll be coming to Manila for about two weeks next month, and would appreciate any advice on the three hottest fun/pick-up joints in Makati area. Plus one other joint (anywhere) that you would consider as a 'must visit'. Perhaps a bit upmarket would be preferable.
