I arrive Manila late and go up to Departures to get a taxi. The security at the bottom of the escalator is there to make sure no one does what I intend to do – get a taxi from departures – so I make up some bullshit about having to change a ticket at the ticket counter. Outside departures, get into a taxi dropping people off, he’s happy to use the meter.  150 pesos to Ermita. Bad traffic. I have my business meeting, good. Business finished, time for fun. It is late and I do not what to head over to the gogos at P Burgeous or EDSA so I wander down towards LA Café.
What a shithole this neighborhood is! Who eventually picks up all this trash everywhere? I get asked for money about 10 times, and the same jagoff is still outside the hotel trying to sell me US coins!  Why the hell would I want to buy those? I decide to try to have fun with him and show him some Thai 10 baht coins still in my pocket and see if he wants to trade. He looks at the 10 baht coins curiously and then calls his friend over so I can buy a watch or belt with them. Hey guy, I was joking! Never mind.
It is then that I get the divine inspiration that I do not want to spend 2 more days here in Manila. I’ve heard some about Angeles City and Calzoid is there now, so I stop in an Internet café, get some info, then call Calzoid. “Come on down!”, he says. Taxi is 2200-2500 pesos but the Fly-The-Bus service from Swagman Hotel is only 500 pesos. Leaves from nearby at 11:30am tomorrow morning so I’m set.

A few notes: All bars I mention in this FR are gogo bars, there are very few “beer bars” in Angeles. Most bars play the same music, Barfines seem to be universally 1200 pesos (1000 baht, 1.2 pesos = 1 baht) and the expected tip to the girl seems to be anywhere from 0 to 1000 pesos. Some bars open as early as Noon, many open at 4pm and closing time is usually 4:00am, but some are 5:00am or 6:00am. Beers in the bars are usually around 75-95 pesos and ladydrinks are 135-150. All dancers are NOT good-to-go for sex (some are called ‘cherry girls’, they have a V in the upper corner of their name badge). More on this later. They always wear their name badge and it has their picture and birthday. The standard uniform on the dancers is a bikini, so you can always see the stomach. Almost none have tattoos. Almost all girls I met spoke excellent English. As far as this goes, I think it is fair to say that the very worst English on a Filipino BG is better than the very best English-speaking Thai BG.
In La Bomba, I want to go with the waitress but she says she doesn’t go with customers because she has a boyfriend (Japanese). Excellent, I love sponsored girls! Nice FR. Unfortunately it matches my memories of AC from my one trip there 5 years ago. Too many cherry girls. Someone who is more familiar with the scene in AC could explain the number and purpose of all the 'cherry girls'. Many times a girl would catch my eye and she was a 'cherry girl'. Calzoid seemed to think that was because my tastes happened to match the looks of a 'cherry girl' (i.e. maybe young, innocent and sweet looking, perfectly flat stomach).
