Quote: from bimmher on 2:23 pm on April 11, 2006 How many girls in Thailand have a passport that I might pick up in a go-go or other such place?
I do not think the number is high. But when I was here in early March, I went two nights with a waitress in a gogo. I call her "Snow'. I phoned Snow and said I wanted to take a holiday with her and two weeks ago, we spent two days in Halong Bay Vietnam. She had a passport but had not been outside Thailand. So they do exist. Almost every new girl I have been with in the past 6 months, I have very casually asked if they have a passport (I don't ask why they have one, they wouldn't tell me the truth anyway). From my small sample - OK, not so small - I'd put the number at 15%. Bimmher, perhaps your M.O. should be changed from looking for blonde-haired Thai chicks who take it up the rump to looking for passport holding, blonde-haired Thai chicks who take it up the rump. A Thai person can get a passport in a few days by going to one of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs offices with their ID card and about 1000 baht. They should call MFA - http://www.mfa.go.th/ - for more info on where, when, what, etc. Quote: from jingjo on 3:33 pm on April 11, 2006 Dew would have to Choose You over the boyfriend or husband anyday!
This is a battle I could not win (permanently), no matter what I have going for me in her eyes, I am lacking one thing. I am not Thai. Just my opinion.

Great report as always CG, I remember how excitedly Dew was telling of her HK adventures when we were in Lumpini. Is 'Snow' the girl you took to the Brewhouse by any chance?

Though the question is moot re: Dew. I have no plans or desire of ever being anything more than what I am for her now.

A few things I forgot to include about Day 1: When walking from Lan Kwai Fong to Central to get the train to Jordan, Dinkum91, Dew and I are walking through a huge crowd. Turns out they have some exhibit near Central MTR, Dinkum91 hits the toilet and Dew and I walk through the exhibit. Dew grabs my sleeve and will not let go. Later, as we were walking to the subway, I had removed her hand from my sleeve and I saw Dew had now grabbed Dinkum91’s sleeve as he walked. I asked Dew about this later, and she said she was terrified about getting lost in the huge crowd of people. Dew’s flight from Bangkok Airport was 8:00am. She said she arrived Bangkok at 11:00pm on the bus, she lives near the Cambodian border (she does not work bar anymore, not 100% sure why, I do not ask because the answer will not be the whole truth - or true at all). Her friend was not in the room, her other friend was not in the room, so she killed some time at a karaoke joint she hangs out at. But she was quite tired and wanted some sleep but nowhere to go because all friends working. Dew slept a little time on the bench at the moto guys hangout near Petchburi/Asoke (she knows them) then went to the airport 5:00am. But she did not check-in for her flight til 7:00am because the reservation page I gave her said to be there 1 hour prior, so she waits til 7:00am to check-in for the 8:00am flight! Dew: I want to sleep somewhere last night, and I want to call Khun DrLove, but I cannot. CG: If you call DrLove and want to sleep in his apartment, he will say ‘yes’. For sure! Dew: Cannot call Khun DrLove. CG: Why? Dew: Kreng Jai. CG: Why don’t you get a hotel? Remember we stayed one time Soi 19 for 500 baht (don’t ask!) You can go there. Or Wattana Mansion on Ratchada Soi 17, you can stay there 600 baht. Dew: pang mahk (very expensive) CG: Why didn’t you call me in Hong Kong and then I will call one of my friends to take care of you (no, that doesn’t mean to screw her! ) Maybe I can call Khun RTB, he has a friend who has a hotel, he will give you a room, no problem. Or I have many friends I can call, they all will let you stay, no problem. They will help me because they are my friends. For sure! Dew: Cannot call you, cannot call your friends, you know why. CG: Why? Dew: Kreng Jai. Makes me sad, a little bit. You know what, Kreng Jai is bullshit! So Dew arrives with little sleep, but she says: Dew: "CG, we not sleep Hong Kong. I never go outside Thailand before, so I want to do everything. We cannot sleep two days! We can do everything Hong Kong. We can eat, drink beer, go karaoke, do everything Hong Kong, then we go Bangkok and we can sleep. Dai mai?" CG: "Dai" Later… after coming back to the room about 11pm, a completely exhausted Dew says: Dew: "CG, I want to do everything Hong Kong, but I sleep one hour, OK? I wake up one hour, we go out and do something Hong Kong with people Hong Kong, dai mai?" CG: "Dai." She stares out the window for a minute, does her Buddhist prayers. Then Dew, of endless energy, falls dead asleep within 1 minute and wakes up 10 hours later. I don’t mind. Cute?

Day 2 in Hong Kong --------------------------- Wake up mid-morning, Dew takes shower then wakes me up with her tongue. I love that! We walk from Jordan to the Star Ferry Pier (about 1.5 kilometers, I think). Lots of pictures taken. Dew seems less impressed with the Star Ferry than I am, she does not really love boats (despite being able to scuba dive!) I love the view crossing the harbor. We stop at a photo shop to drop off pictures to be developed from yesterday (HK$1 each, about the same price as BKK), and we get the #6 bus to Stanley (not the 66 bus, which goes through the tunnel, faster but what fun is that!). The bus is less than US$1.50, I think. This is the best US$1.50 you will ever spend. We go upstairs and sit on the top level in the front. I love this ride. So does RTB and OZ, who recommended it as well. I cannot do it justice when I describe it, you have to take this ride. Dew takes lots and lots of pictures. I think Hong Kong is beautiful and I am always in awe of it. I look over at Dew at one point and she is just staring out the window. Everything Dew sees is new to her; from the very unnatural scenery of skyscrapers growing out of the sides of rocky mountains where skyscrapers should not grow, to looking down and seeing the bus seemingly almost rear-end the back-ends of US$80,000 Mercedes driven always by Hong Kong Chinese, to the bus stopping for rich Hong Kong kids who live at the peak and pay US 80 cents to get on the bus with their Ipods and their portable video games (which look like fun!), to looking down on the picturesque scene of Happy Valley as we duck our heads to barely miss the tree branches over the road. We do not speak much on the bus to Stanley. No need. I look over at Dew and she simply smiles politely and quickly goes back to looking out the windows … I really wonder what she is thinking now. Me thinks Dew is a bit overwhelmed. Good for her. I really enjoyed the ride to Stanley. Soon enough, we are at Stanley Market. We are both hungry, but the Stanley I remember with a couple of cute pubs has been turned into a trendy, foofy place with touristy set menus! WTF? OK, never mind, we go into a Thai-Vietnamese place (my choice) and we sit down. Dew looks at the menu and picks out three dishes for herself, all about US$12 each. “Pssst, sweetheart, you’re not in Thailand anymore, home of the “40 baht plate-o-food!” OK? We can't spend US$100 for lunch. Never mind, we pick out just a couple of dishes to share and some rice and soup and a couple of beers. Dew is happy, but: Dew: Why I say ‘coor sum tum phet’ (I order spicy) and they bring ‘mai phet’ (not spicy) ? CG: Som num naa! (Serves you right!) Because Khon Hong Kong like not spicy, Khun CG like not spicy. Aroi mahk! Actually, this is the first plate of sum tum I’ve ever had that I can actually eat and enjoy without later anticipating flames shooting out my ass! It is delicious! Dew says politely that the food it OK. The bill comes, the total amounting to 10 lunches in Thailand. Mai pben rai. We go out to the big rocks at the small beach nearby and take some photos. We just sit on the rocks for awhile. Nice. We walk through Stanley Market and Dew buys a couple of things for her father and daughter, all at my urging, both less than US$6 each. BTW, I have known Dew for 16 months and this is the first time I have EVER been shopping with her. She could not find anything her mother would want, despite my urging. We’ll get something for her tomorrow. I saw on the map there is a village called Shek-O, a beach town not so far away. I call Dinkum91 and ask him about it. Dinkum91 was very helpful in telling me where to get the bus to Shek-O. BTW, I highly recommend ‘Dinkum91TravelInformationService’, it is a fountain of local information about everything regarding Hong Kong, from bus routes, to shopping locations to recommending the best place PPP (Primary Peeving Place) location to sit in Central and look at hot chicks at lunch hour! This service is highly recommended! Anyway, we get on one bus, then change to another no problem, tons of scenery and before you know it., we are cruising past the Shek-O Country Club (“CG can we play golf here tomorrow?” “Sure sweetie, no problem”) and we are in the village of Shek-O. We met a couple of Amerekans on the bus who kayaked from Shek-O to Stanley, overturning twice, and they are on their way back to get their car. Fun talk with them, they recommend a local bar and we go and have a beer and look out over the beach. Very fun! More pictures. BTW, at least 10 times during the trip, I stopped a stranger walking by (always a Westerner) and asked them about where something was, or I went into a shop and asked directions somewhere. Of course, they were always helpful and it would result in a short conversation between us. Dew finds me doing this quite unusual - “CG you not know him, how can you talk to him?” – I guess Thais walk around lost all the time. Later, we walk through the town of Shek-O and look into the sparse homes of seemingly poor Hong Kong Chinese families (but this property has got to be worth a fortune!!), then we get to the main beach. A great beach!! Tons of BBQ restaurants on the beach, for (I think) rich Chinese families to come from The Peak and Mid-levels and eat. We should have stayed but someone told us the last bus leaves for Central soon, So back toward the bus stop and I spot a Thai sign over a BBQ stand. I shout “sawat dee krup” into the shop and the woman runs out to see me. The conversation went like this, completely in Thai: ThaiLady: Hello, you speak Thai? CG: A little bit ThaiLady: What is your name? CG: My name CG. ThaiLady: CG, why can you speak Thai? CG: I have girlfriend Thai, her name Dew, she tell me everything. ThaiLady looks at Dew and says something in Thai then in Pasa Isaan, now the conversation is in Pasa Isaan. ThaiLady: CG, you speak Pasa Isaan too? CG: I cannot speak Isaan (but I say this phrase in perfect Isaan ‘ koi wow boor dai’ – rehearsed, I know very little pasa Isaan!) ThaiLady: - says a bunch of words I do not understand CG: Man u. Bor bin yong. (Isaan for “for sure, doesn’t matter though’) ThaiLady: (back to Pasa Thai) Where you come from? CG: (in Thai) I come from America. ThaiLady: (in Thai) Amereka, law? I don’t believe, everybody Amereka have big body, you have small body, why” CG: (in English) My girlfriend likes boyfriend who is not fat, same as Thai man, Understand? Dew laughs ThaiLady: (in English) Yes, I understand, I know. I speak English. Of course she knew English the whole time, Dew gets a big bang out of my conversation with ThaiLady. We get some BBQ squid for Dew and she talks in Isaan to ThaiLady, I understand very little but Dew is going on and on about Hong Kong. Eventually, we catch the bus, but I have no idea where this bus is going, it isn’t Central! “CG where this bus go?” “Uhh, dunno”, but 20 minutes later, I see a sign for MTR (subway) and we get off with half the people on the bus, get the subway to Jordan and we drop off the stuff we bought. We walk and look for a couple of bars in Tsim Sha Tsui that I remembered from last trip but all are dead or closed (Sunday night). But Dew loves to run out in the middle of Nathan Road when there is no traffic and have pictures taken of her. And she has me do it too! "Nathan Road not same Ratchadapisek, why Nathan Road no have cars?" Never mind, we have one beer somewhere, back to the room (11pm again). I tell Dew that I go out for water or something. I just need a little free time away from Dew (been with her 36 hours straight) and I want something to eat. I walk, check out the area nearby, stop for BBQ chicken leg and a Coke, and I go back to the room after about 45 minutes. Dew is asleep. OK with me, I’ll get my morning wake-up, I’m sure.
