Actually, this is the first plate of sum tum I’ve ever had that I can actually eat and enjoy without later anticipating flames shooting out my ass! It is delicious!

I don't know why, CG, but in your tales, there is always one sentence, on part, that makes me start with a chuckle, and then laugh out loud for a while - in this one, the above was it.

I thoroughly enjoy your writings!

DAY 2 - Addendum
----------------------
Yesterday, when Dew and I were enjoying a beer at the Shek-O beach bar, we were looking at some of the money, and she asked why the King was not on the money. I told her a little about how Hong Kong used to be British, but now it is Chinese (which, I know, has nothing to do with her original question) and the discussion somehow got to the King of Thailand. Now I have usually not had conversations with her, or any other Thai person, regarding the King. I know it is simply not done, and no good will come from our talking about the king. But Dew brought it up this time, and when I say “maybe we should not talk about the King”, she says:

Dew: “CG, now it is OK to talk anything about the King, good or bad. I want to tell you, this here not Thailand, this here Hong Kong. If I am in Thailand, I cannot talk anything about the King. I can only say ‘the King go here today’, ‘the King speak here tomorrow’, but I cannot think about ‘King good’ or ‘King bad’.”

CG: “I thought every Thai person thinks ‘the King is good’”

Dew: “I want to tell you something … everyone who come to Thailand but are not Thai people want to know if ‘Thai people think King good’ or ‘Thai people think King bad’. They not finish stupid (‘not finish stupid’ is a very cute phrase Dew uses for someone who acts or says something nonsensical) because Thai people not think about King like person. If I am in Thailand, I cannot think about the King. But now I am in Hong Kong, I can talk about ‘King good’ or ‘King bad’. Up to me”

CG: “OK, do you think the King is good or bad?”

Dew: “I don’t know, I tell you before, I never go outside Thailand so I never think ‘King good’ or ‘King bad’. I think about it and I tell you later, OK?”

CG: “OK, I ask you tomorrow”

The next day, I forgot to ask her about the King. I guess I’ll have to wait until we go outside Thailand again.

More tomorrow, our last day in Hong Kong.

Wonderful trip report GC. Dew seems a real cutie.

But, best do not comment on HM The King...whether from inside Thailand or abroad. There are soooo many other topics to write about.

You're right, I just added this bit because it gave me just one more perspective on how Thais think. Here is the last day in Hong Kong....

Day 3
-------
Morning wake up from Dew. Nice. A happy CG calls Dinkum91 to see if he wants to meet for lunch or a happy hour drink. Lunch it is. Dew and I get ready to go, pack up everything and leave the guesthouse. The owner of the guesthouse has taken a liking to Dew and has written her name in Chinese on this stuffed animal I bought her. Very cute. We jump on the Airport Express bus right across the street to go to Kowloon Airport Express Station and drop off our bags there. We check-in for our Cathay Pacific flight back to Bangkok at 8:45pm, we get our boarding passes and we are left with a single backpack for the day in Hong Kong. We take MRT to Central and pick up some photos that we had dropped off at the photo shop for developing. We then meet up with Dinkum91 on a street corner near Central..

We walk a long ways through various parks and gardens on the way to an office building near Admiralty. Dew takes many, many photos of skyscrapers, flowers, fish in the pond, etc. Dinkum91 shows us the building that the Aussie built and he says the side of the building looks like koala bears climbing up. I look and look and look and finally see what he is talking about. Kind of. Anyway, we get to a food court but cannot find anywhere to sit. So we end up going to a Thai restaurant. I order for Dew, who is quite quiet. She might be a little overwhelmed by everything. Food comes, Dew says “this food look same food Thai but not taste same food Thai”. She wasn’t complaining, she was just pointing it out. Food very good. She eats everything.

Walking out, I hear Dew say to Dinkum91 “Thank you for my food, when you come Thailand? I buy food for you.” Dinkum91 probably will take her up on the offer. Bye to Dinkum91, after he walks us to the Peak Tram. What a great host!

We take the Peak Tram, which I really like. Dew seems unimpressed, as there is really not a good view from most of the ride up. We get to the top, and this is certainly not the Peak that I remember. There is a f***ing shopping mall here! About 5 floors of tourist crap, even a McDonalds! WTF. Some great views from the observation deck, as long as you do not look northwest, where they are building ANOTHER shopping mall which blocks the views of the observation deck. And you used to be able to walk around the road circling the Peak, but it is closed. Progress, I guess.

We opt for the bus back down, and we are waiting for one of the open-top-deck buses, but the only busses that come are the regular ones. Never mind, we’ll take the regular one. Some really great views on the bus ride down - Happy Valley and Aberdeen. We’re getting a little tired of “tourist” views, so we find a street market near Lan Kwai Fong (with a call to Dinkum91 for directions). We walked this market for a good long time, looking at a bunch of things and buying very little. Dew buys something for her Mom, now she has something for everyone. I find an Internet Café in the market and I tell Dew I have to work for 20 minutes. She says OK and I tell her to go walk the market and come back here 20 minutes. She is reluctant to leave my side, I just tell her to go to something nearby. I take my wallet and I open it for her and I say “take some money to buy something”. There is about HK$900 in the wallet. She takes HK$50 (she knows that is 250 baht, I say she can take more and she says “no, I don’t need any more”.

Dew leaves and comes back about 10 minutes later with a bunch of necklaces, bracelets, etc. for her friends, and one for me. She gives me back change of HK$20!

Time for us to take the train to the airport, we stop at McDonalds and grab a quick bite, then board the train. I love the Airport Express! When we get off the train, Dew says “Where we go now?” I show her the ticketing counters but tell her we already have our boarding passes. As we walk towards security, I tell Dew that I have been to the airport a million times, but she has only been a few times. If she ever comes to a foreign airport alone, she will have no one to help her. So I tell her she has to figure out where to go and what to do. She says OK, and I make her find our flight on the TV monitor. Takes her a few minutes because the boarding pass is the boarding time, and the flight monitor shows the departure time - they don't match. Plus, no Thai language. But she finally finds it and sees the gate number.

Armed with the gate number, I make her find the right place to go through security. She does this after studying the signs of where to go and walking in the opposite direction. I take for granted simple things like navigating an airport until I see a very bright girl struggle with it. Nothing is in her language; I don’t really know how she feels.

We get to security and go to walk through. Dew’s phone is in her pocket, so the metal detector goes off, I hear the security person say “you have mobile?”, Dew answers “yes you can use but it not work Hong Kong, only work Thailand”. Priceless! We go through immigration, I let Dew go first alone just to see what would happen. The HK immigration agent did not know she was with me. No words spoken between them, he stamps her out, same for me, and we go to the Cathay lounge. We have about 45 minutes before boarding, there are showers, I take one and I try to get Dew to come in with me so I can screw her in the shower. She vehemently declines. We eat some of the food put out in the lounge, and eventually head to the gate about 10 miles away! I talk to the check-in agent and tell her what an impotent man I am, she is impressed and says she will upgrade me to business class. But only me, not me and a companion. Well, that would be rude so we board and sit in our coach seats.

Great service on the short 2hr 10 min flight, the guy sitting next to me is going to Bangkok for the first time (he is Italian, works in Hong Kong). I tell him about the soapies, oilys, NEP, SC, Soi33, etc. All in very hushed tones so that people around us do not hear. He is furiously writing things down. I give him a couple of names at Tulip and Angel, as well as a hand-drawn map of where the Eden Club is. I tell him that chicks will piss on him there, as well as screw him in the ass with a dildo. He actually writes “piss” and “dildo” on the map! We land in BKK and I tell him to watch out for the ladyboys and bid him good bye.

Dew and I go to immigration, but we have to go to separate lines to enter Thailand. Now everything is in Thai, so she goes happily off to wait in line with the other Thais.

Through immigration, Dew is waiting for me at baggage claim, we get our stuff and go up to Departures and grab an arriving taxi. Dew has a great time telling the taxi driver all about Hong Kong! We are staying at Watana Mansion Ratchada Soi 17 for one night, near where Dew’s friends’ room is. Next to Poseidon too! Check-in, 550 baht/night very clean room, big, almost ‘nice’. This is the best value in the whole city!! It is about 11:30pm and everything nearby is closing and we do not want to go to Sukhumvit. Dew calls a few friends and tells them all about Hong Kong, big time "face" for her. One of the conversations is in Thai and one is in Isaan. In the Thai one, I hear her go on and on about taking pictures in the middle of the street in Hong Kong, Shek-O beach, the bus ride to Stanley and the view from the Peak. My name is in every sentence. "CG take many pictures, CG show me how to take subway, not the same as Bangkok, etc."

So we settle in with a movie and very nice screw. Good sleep, wake up and, as I have been with her for 3 days, it’s time to say goodbye to Dew. Usually after 3 days with a single TG, I'm happy that they hit the road. For some reason, this time, I don't want to say goodbye, wouldn't mind hanging with Dew for one more day. But it is the 'right thing" to do... for both of us. Our relationship is about fun, not serious, and this suits me just fine. No reason to f*** up a good thing by thinking too much!

I’ll write about the ‘goodbye’ in a day or so, it is a ‘goodbye’ not like the rest of them …

As usual CG an excellent read. I almost felt as if I were with you and Dew... Keep em comming...

I also like HK although I have only been once, it was very impressive. I too have considered taking my little lady there myself if/when time/finances permit.

ps. Is Dew the young lady I saw you with in KFC at Fortune Town a short time ago?

CG,

LMAO about this one: “you have mobile?”, Dew answers “yes you can use but it not work Hong Kong, only work Thailand”

That line alone was worth the whole trip!

Great FR C-G it's fun to take a girl on holiday, I took a PI g/f from HK to the UK for a month she had a great time. Last year I shipped an Indonesian friend into BKK for a week, tried to keep her away from the P4P scene untill one day she asked where it all was. She loves disco dancing so took to CM2 and let her dance herself silly while I nestled a few beers at the bar. She came up behind me with a Thai girl and said we should take her as the guy who had proposition her was a cheap charlie!!!!!

Next time you meet someone at HK airport take the express bus into town it stops at central. Get a top deck seat near the front for a great scenic ride in, it's much better than the train if your your not in a hurry.
