Hotels:
Stayed at the Wharney Guang Dong Hotel, 57-73 Lockhart Road in Wanchai. Got a good low season rate of $63/night from asiarooms.com. Great location for mongering in Wanchai. Located on the same block as Fenwick's and several hostess clubs and freelancer bars; one hostess bar is located about 10 feet from the Wharney's main entrance, with it's girls sitting on the sidewalk in plain view of the lobby. Extremely girlfriendly; sitting in the lobby in the morning watching the ladies stream out of the elevators reminded me of the Nana Hotel. Of course the Wharney is much nicer. Small but nicely appointed rooms. I had a nice comfortable firm queen size bed. Up on the 12th floor I had no problems with street noise. It's easy to get to and from the airport since an Airport Express shuttle "stops" at the hotel (it's more like a pause: the shuttle will zoom right by the hotel unless you or the bell hop are on the curb flagging it down). Rates for a single can vary from $63-$167 US, depending on time of year and whether a big event is scheduled for the nearby HK Convention and Exhibition Center.

Occasionally I also like staying on the Kowloon side, and when I do I usually stay at the Salisbury Y. The Salisbury is a regular hotel run by the YMCA. It's located across the street from the Peninsula, close to the Star Ferry terminal at the tip of Tsim Sha Tsui. Great views on the harbor side. Single rooms are fairly small here, and the twin beds are a little tight when you have company. The hotel is not girlfriendly and is fairly strict about enforcing it's no-guests-after-11 pm policy, but it's fairly easy to sneak someone in during the day or early evening as long as they aren't dressed too obviously as a hooker. Most visitors can blend in because the Y runs plenty of classes & programs on the lower floors of the building that are open to the public. Rates range from 650-850 HKD ($83-$109 US) for a single, up to 1450-1800 HKD ($186-$231 US) for a harbor view suite, depending on the time of year. Facilities include two indoor pools, health/fitness center, climbing wall, dance studio and a chapel.

Chinese Restaurants
Lot's of inexpensive chinese restaurants in Wanchai. When I'm in Kowloon I tend to dim sum; in the Wanch I usually go for northern chinese noodle places.
* Peking Shui Jiao Wong, 118 Jaffe Road: northern noodles & dumplings.
* 369 Shanghai Restaurant, 30-32 O'Brien Road: northern noodles and dumplings.
* Hay Hay, corner of Lockhart and Luard Roads: roast duck, roast pork, rice dishes and noodle soups.
* Tim's Kitchen, 250 (?) Jaffe Road: HK cafe/diner food; for example I had a set plate lunch that included pork chops, spaghetti, potatoes or rice, steamed vegetables, ice cream and coffee for 40 HKD.
* Forgot the name and address (151?) of a congee place on Lockhart Road several paces east of The Bridge bar. Specializes in congee, aka rice porridge or juk (the Joke Restaurant on Suhkumvit Soi 11 in BKK also specializes in this). Great soothing bowls of this stuff. Although bland to some, I prefer it to the fast food places on Luard and Lockhart like Thai Hut and Cul-De-Sac. Open late.

Bars and Clubs
* Fenwick the Dock, 41 Lockhart Road: Known simply as Fenwick's, this place is the motherlode for freelancers. Easily over a hundred FL's, most of whom are Filpinas, with Chinese and Thai also mixed in. There were also about a half dozen Venezuelan women working the crowd. One big-breasted blonde Venezuelan was asking for 2000 HKD (approx. 10,600 THB or $258 US), which worked out to about 50 HKD per inch on her waist. Most FL's started the bidding at 1500 HKD ($193 US) and many would settle for 1000 HKD ($129 US). Probably possible to find some for less but I'm not sure I'd be attracted to them. Lots of attractive girls, should be easy to find a girl to your liking.
* Carnegie's, 53-55 Lockhart Road: Loud and too damn crowded, mostly an expat crowd. Boring MOR tunes from the 60's, 70's and 80's. It should be against the law to still be playing Men at Work, and overweight 40 year old women never look cute dancing to the Ketchup Song. Sorry but I was not laughing with you. Not a place for FL's -- I don't blame 'em.
* The Canny Man, 57 Lockhart Road in the basement of the Wharney Hotel: Quiet bar catering to expats and hotel guests. Claims to have over 100 malt whiskeys. Friendly English bartender despite the ribbing I gave him for England's loss to Northern Ireland in World Cup qualifying.
* The Bridge, 93-107 Lockhart Road: They say they're open 24 hours and I never saw them closed. At 6 am this place draws the leftover Fenwick's crowd and FL's ready for rounds 2 or 3. Not a bad place to have a beer in the afternoon, friendly bartenders.
* Old China Hand, 104 Lockhart Road: Small bar that opens onto Lockhart across the street from The Bridge. Good place for people watching, happy hour starts at noon. Generally not a place for FL's, but a good place to watch them walk to and fro.
* Strawberry Cafe & Disco, 48 Hennessy Road: Popped into Strawberry's 3 times and it was dead each time. Small selection of FL's but a few cuties. Typical Filipino cover band, playing the hits we've all memorized. One more version of Hotel California and I'm going over the wall...
* Dusk Till Dawn, 76-84 Jaffe Road: Yes, those are roughly it's hours. Draws a mixed crowd of ex-pats and tourists, couples and FLs. Live band, often crowded.
* Delaney's, 18 Luard Road: Large Irish bar at the corner of Luard and Jaffe. Popular bar to watch rugby, football and cricket. Not a place for FL's, although it's located on the corner where most of the Thai ladyboys work. I suppose if one had too much Guinness...
* Chuan Bar Bar, 20 Luard Road: Pleasant, quieter bar near Delaney's. It's located one flight upstairs with windows overlooking Luard. Lots of drink specials.

While in Kowloon I also checked out:
* Knutsford Terrace: About a dozen restaurants and bars are located on this small street up a hill in TST. Feels like a smaller, cozier version of Lan Kwai Fong. Chasers was the most lively club in the area, offering live music and dancing.
* Hippo Bar, 64-66 Kimberly Road, TST: A small loud smoky bar usually full of Cantonese speaking locals. The manager, Jim, is Jim Carrey's long lost Chinese twin. Fun place to play dice drinking games. The Hippo Bar on Prat Ave in TST is unrelated to this one (they once were co-owned but no longer) ; the Prat Ave Hippo Bar is not as friendly or personable, but does have cuter beer girls.

Nice info Ronnie

Good thing she didn't base her pricing on her bust

Was this pricing for ST?

This site has a pretty cool db of HK massage chicks & escorts. The price quotes on there were about 50% accurate for me when I tried it (quite awhile ago though).

Bimmher: ST I believe. She was negotiating with a guy standing next to me while I was talking to her friend.

Boobies: Yep, I've tried this site and wrote about it here:

I'm a little more appreciative of their pricing compared to FL's.

My experience in HK is similar to yours! If its a quiet time of the year (no big conventions in town or nearby parts of China or nearby nations Holidays) prices become more competitive. If it’s busy prices go up! Standard economic practice of Demand & Supply!

Funniest thing I seen is a Thai lady who I once negotiated with in Singapore quoted me almost exactly double in HK. When asked why she said because I can! BTW I said no twice!

Was in "Dusk till Dawn" last month and got ripped off with the old $1,000 note short change scam, ie. gave $1,000 for two drinks and got the change for $500. Filipino Manager (new) got very nasty when I complained, and he threatened to get the security goons to throw us out. Will never go there again.

My advice is to try to avoid using $1,000 notes if possible, but if you do give one, make a big thing of pointing it out to the waitress in front of your mates.

Luckily the FL's over at Fenwicks later stopped it from being a spoiled evening.

Forgot to mention, nice field report RR, but you missed out Neptune, the old dive bar in Jaffe Road that used to be the nearest thing HK had to the Thermae in BKK. Is it still open? Used to have plenty of Thai and Flipper FL's well past their use by date, but later some fresh mainland Chinese girls were coming in. Should be in HK later this month and will check it out.

I think it's still there (it's got a set of stairs leading down from the sidewalk?) but I didn't check it out. Three bouncers at the door does not make for an inviting place. But if I had known it was like the old Thermae...

It's Neptune 2, and it's still a busy place. Yep, lots of mainlanders there, plus Thais and Filipinas. Just up the street from Delaney's.
