What better place to find answers- ok want to take TGF to Macao from BKK- there is only one nonstop flight on Air Macao that gets in at 1:30 in the morning- there is no us visa required- nor a Thai visa it seems- but this makes no sense. Why not fly BKK/HK -show her HK then take boat to Macao- Question then-- I assume I now need a china visa and so will she?? pain in the ass for me and god knows where Ubon girl would get- she is just getting her first passport- anyone know ?? thanks

As far as I know, either of you will only need a valid passport - no specific visa is required for either US or Thai residents.

I looked into that once 8 months ago, so that's the date of my information. I do know of several friends of mine (US) that went to HK without any need for a special visa. You should be fine.

Your idea of going via HK makes far more sense, and she will have a lot more fun.

Yes, this is correct for HKG and for Macau, for USA and Thailand passport holders.

IMO, HKG is 100 times more interesting than Macau.

Air Asia also flies BKK-Macau nonstop a few times a day. If you want to do HKG, you could fly to Macau and take the boat over, or fly directly to HKG on another airline.

UA and AA freq. flyer miles can take you BKK-HKG RT nonstop on TG or CX for 20K miles. A good deal.

And a few BKK travel agents might be able to get you a good hotel and air package for HKG, especially if you are flexible with dates. Take a look in the Bangkok Post. HKG hotel rates vary dramatically from day-to-day depending on conventions in town, so you can save tremendously if you are flexible with dates. Make sure you can get a hotel at a reasonable price (for you) before booking air.

You can always send the gf back to BKK a day early, then f*** your way through Macau on your own. Check out BobFiveHead's and others' reports in the Outside Thailand section.

Actually, it's in this section.

Field Report, Hong Kong and Macau by BobFiveHead

And if you look at this list of non-stop flights to/from BKK, you will find lots of airlines flying to/from Hong Kong.

You guys are great- but are you sure? I needed a china visa for Beijing and Shanghai- which I could only get on 42nd street in NY and cost over $100- are you sure Hong Kong is different now that it is part of China? I might just forget Macao (i was going there because I knew you didnt need a visa) - even though I know Venetian hotel-( Macao) -- if anything like the one in Vegas- would blow TGF away-

ColoGuy- he he- who needs Macao when you have BKK/Pattaya- and I always fly in 4 days before GF fles in from Ubon ---glad we are on same page-

Yes. 1000% sure. Hong Kong is NOT China as far as visa requirements. And neither is Macau.

Last time I brought a TG to HKG (Miss Dew), I ticketed her to fly out of Macau alone on Air Asia then I stayed for a day. I was a nice guy, I brought her to the airport.

It is a shame to visit some place in Asia and not f*** a few locals. Variety is the spice of life, so banging a few Chinese chicks should be on the agenda if you go to HKG or Macau.

I would agree - the funky squealing sounds they make during sex are a memorable experience

I have been to HK, Macau and China mainland with my TGF.

USA and Thai nationals do not need a visa to visit HK or Macau. They are known as SARs (Special Administrative Regions). I don't remember how long you can stay, but at least 15 days.

USA and Thai nationals DO need visas to visit China. I believe it costs $100USD for USA nationals to get a China visa. I got mine in the USA. My TGF got hers at the China Embassy in Bangkok. I forget how much (probably around 2,000bt with same day turnaround).

hkg and macau no visa indeed, even my burmese mate didn't need a visa in Macau, although we wasted a few minutes at the border as the custom officer didn't know what country his passport stood for.

U should definetely taste young chinese meat if yo have the chance and Venetian in Macau is twice the size at the one in Vegas it seems. I sure loved the place!

Will agree with the rest here. In HKG and Macau, although they are under the jurisdiction of the PRC, the agreements that returned them to Chinese control included a clause the allowed for a 'limited' self-governance of those areas.

That being the case many of the laws, including visa exemption were maintained by the new governing authorities.

As for China they still require a Visa to be applied for. There is rumor of a visa-on-arrival service for Americans entering the PRC from HK but I have never been able to get any details about it.

I usually get a 1 year multi-entry visa to the PRC. Funny enough the cost is about the same as for a single entry visa...
