Boy oh boy oh boy.....what a thread to start with. Hard to imagine this started Christmas eve 2002....and has mantained such an engaging level of civility for all this time. Bravo gentlemen, bravo!

Welcome aboard, dcutter. However to give credit where credit is due, I am not sure whether the civility of this thread is due to
a) the innate civility of people attacted to SOL (!)
b) the awe we feel in the presence of the best BJ's in the world
c) some civilizing effect of the bar or the BJ's or the girls or all of that together
d) we are conserving our energy for another round of those best BJ's

Thanks for posting and let us know how everything comes out 555

Mel Gibson
Joe Wood, firstly I apologise for taking so long to reply and secondly I am jealous that you get to SOL more often than I.
I with the utmost congeniality quote you sir : "Mel posts some very sensible entries on the board, but with this I feel that I must disagree. I have always got the impression that he is widely travelled and is knowledgeable of Thailand. I think that I am right.
And I respect him for a lot of the positions that he has taken on this board in many posts.
But I have to draw the line here.
If you move in certain circles in a society, maybe one only gets a glimpse of certain facets that are close to one's movements and experience.
But if you move into the interior, whether rural or urban, the picture is wider and clearer, not that I have that clearer vision. I am as ignorant as the next guest in this country.
But when I talk with factory and company girls who are lucky to get 3,000 to 6,000 baht per month,, without stoppages, and with overtime, I find it hard to imagine that they have enough to send back to their family villages. "

Firsly Thank you for your compliments. A brief history of my experience in Thailand may help clear some facts,,,, My wife, the one I explained earning some 15,000 BHT per month is from Isaan ( the poorest part of Thailand).
I have spent a lot of time in Isaan and ( for a farang) have a reasonably informed education of what life is like in that area.

I have the necessary resources ( from hard work) to help my wifes extended family ( I am NOT rich but happy to share with whom I consider MY family). So far ( as of year 2000) I have purchased land ( 1 rai ) and built a simple home for her parents to live in ( as I said I am not rich). Since that purchase an additional bordering rai ( 1,600 square metres ) has been purchased beside the original land.
Recenly a large parcel of land very close to my parent-in-laws house became available,,,some 15 + rai !!!!!!!
I needed help to purchase this,so built a business plan and engaged the capital backing of my parents.
The said land is 90% paid for and company to control organised,,,the "kung" farm is almost organised ( breeding tanks etc built).
Adhoc labour arrangements have been made,,,my brother-in-law and his friend each recieving 6,000 BHT per month. Full production begins October this year ( labour will need to increase to 6 ),,,and first "crop" expected in September 2007 ( Allworkers are to be "share holders " in said company so recieve a percentage of profits"
. I will be inviting BKK forum members for the celebration,, free bus, free food and CHEAP accomodation, of couse you will need to suffer my sales pitch about the product

IF and I mean IF?? this works, it can be replicated in most areas of Isaan within necessary parameters and using the dedicated and crucial systems ( if the "system is not used it will FAIL " ),not only does this make use of cheap land but also gives an opportunity for the poorest of Thai society to make a decent living.

To be factual MY and my immediate families risk is minimal,, land rarely decreases in price over an extended period of time,
but the opportunity is there for my Thai family,, they are and have been very negative ( an unfortunate trait of the poor) regarding the system,, but have complied.

Time will tell on this one.
But YES I know about the poor of Isaan, lived with it and seen the crushing negativity it can bring.

In the end at least one extended family in Isaan eats well, sleeps in a house that will alway be theirs, will never go hungry and lives once again with some certainty.

I nearly forgot the MOST important thing,,,, I have the PERFECT Mother-in-law,, she cannot speak English That alone is woth millions ( joke)

Kudos for your efforts and your help to your extended family. Your wife's a lucky Thai.

On a sidenote, can't seem to start a new topc in the "Living in Bkk" Section, something 'bout newbies unable to start new threads.

I would like to seek the advise of all bros here, what's the job prospects and likelihood of being employed in Bkk for a Civil Engineer (B.Eng) ?

Thanks.

Well, this raises an interesting phenomenon.

You see, for me personally, a girl suddenly gets a lot prettier when she is sucking my dick.

And when said girl is into the exercise, and trying to extract every single ounce of sperm right out of me, she just keeps getting prettier and prettier.

A couple of those girls are lovely, by any criteria. But they get a whole lot lovelier when they are throating my cock.

Weird, huh?

And when you consider that there is never any hassle about the bill, that I am welcomed in with warm hands and sincere affection, and that the girls all know how to make me happy, well, I no longer worry about the fact that many of them could not be categorized as "stunners." They are in a different category altogether.

I think, however, for the gentleman who is seeking "magic," that you need to take some of that in with you. You cannot just buy that quality on tap.

I have found that it is nurtured and given back to me threefold.

To each his own. I would hate for guys who do not "get it" to keep seeking something there that they really need to bring with them.

First I'd like to say that ma9, your post above is one of the best I have ever read about SOL and the experience there. It is overflowing with truisms, in my opinion.

Next, I'd like to say that Mel Gibson, you have taken a lot of time out of your acting career to do something both brave and very admirable. Joking aside, I stand impressed and I wish you the best. Which province is your wife from, if I may ask (and if you are giving a marketing presentation) ?

I believe that you are doing much indeed for that family. Most other families are not so fortunate, whom I believe Joe Wood was concentrating on.

To qualify myself, as Mel G did, I am a line manager in Bangkok and although I get a lot of flirting coming my way, unfortunately I have not felt that the female Thai members of staff whom I in fact fantasize about are under any obligation to make their bodies available to me! Please don't corrupt my mind any further with these suggestions Joe Wood 555..............

But I am not Thai, so maybe it's a moot point. I've known many girls working in many companies. Mostly it's normally slavery rather than sexual slavery. However, read the news. Apply for job--send your photo. We will read your face with feng shui to find out if you're honest and also female age 20 - 28 and foxy.

I don't want to be flippant. We can never penetrate to the viciousness that I believe actually constitutes much of feudal Thai society below this gentle, careless and carefree mask put on for others and for the appearance's sake of how Thai believe things should look. Don't forget to smile while your master whips you. So I believe this does happen in certain situations... I've dealt with scores of companies over the years... I've seen receptionists at companies I've visited in Patpong FL hangouts... I believe it happens.

I have had close dealings with a large amount of city factory girls as well as spending up to months in certain villages, eating and living there. Exhausting to me and I don't want to do it again. There is some variation... But nowadays almost any job and a tabian bahn 'family register' can get most Thai a phone and TV---credit. This is an economic policy that has taken leaps and bounds in the recent decade.

In the villages the poorest will not get top of the line appliances, if any, and many of them don't even have refrigeradors of their own etc. Telephones? Most of these factory girls don't have, excuse my language, window nor pot (that is, not a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of). It takes them a while to save the money to do so. They make about 3 - 4000 baht per month. They can make up to 5 if they work overtime, 12 hrs a day with one or two days off a month. Their living conditions are abominable; that is, filthier and more cramped than in the village even, with their alcoholic gambling family whom they love to death anyway.

Who could blame these girls in an industrializing primitive agrarian society if they go into self-employed hustling to make extra money. The tragic heroes are the ones still working in the factory, in 7/11, in the field. More positively, the FL's, the girls of SOL, these are the liberated women of Thailand who have thrown off the chains of a slavemaster employer in a feudal society where their social worth is very little indeed and their lives are held as cheap to the ruling classes.

Pratom 6, Mattayom 3, if they're lucky Mattayom 6 nowadays. This kind of education here is hardly an education. It is a socialization cramming the structure of Thai society and nationalism into their heads. Those fortunate enough to have a chance at a more respectable society level and to go on to tertiary level... Please. Every school but one I believe would never be accredited by a developed nation's system in a million years. I mention this merely to emphasize lack of real opportunity as well as real ability to consider life outside of the options driven into them. With the disadvantages inherent in coming from a poor background here, perhaps it's a mercy that they haven't been educated well enough to consider their situation from another perspective...

Prostitution is not new here, of course. But I always thought that girls like those in SOL using the bar "as a platform", and other more FL's, were displaying an admirable bravery in getting just a little bit out of the box society casts people into. Yes, they are Thai and they all have a face and would like to show off more than the Joneses some day. For instance, I don't think sleeping all day is the "hooker's mindset"; I think it's the Thai (not Chinese) mindset, if we call habit a mindset; they don't do much else in the village if they're not working (I like dreaming better than TV anyway). And yes, they are probably somewhat undisciplined in ways an office worker cannot be. And vice-versa. Seem like nice genuine people to me though. Not so many head games as the moral middle class, at any rate. I have little time for that crap anymore.

Everything people complain about involving the disorganization here or the poor infrastructure or the simply irrationality... it's just the other side of the coin to the aspects we love. Maybe I should concentrate on that more, like ma9 did in his wonderful post above. No one was complaining, but I just mean to point out the different sides to a country we are powerfully attracted to.

Damn, seajohn....that post made me "think too much."

I am guilty as charged. I am definitely among those who have a "love/hate" relationship with Thailand, and with Thai people.

There are times when I wonder whether I can continue to live here, frankly. This is often after I have worked my way through ten taxi drivers who have refused to take me where I wish to go, or who have slyly proposed "song loi baht" in lieu of using the meter.

Or, I am walking somewhere, and forced to detour onto the street, because the sidewalks are overflowing with carts and raw humanity hawking anything, virtually anything, which might be sold, and which might earn the vendor more than a couple hundred baht a day in income, because that is a step up from working construction, or eating plain white rice with nam prik while the rains wash away their crops back in their home village. I have to walk carefully, because the pavements are cracked and holed, and in some places, you can fall right through into the underlying sewer, the stench of which makes you gag as you pass.

Or, I am stuck in traffic. In a grimy taxi with poor air conditioning, and a driver who mutters darkly about rich farang born into a better station in life than he. It is raining, yet again, and I have left my umbrella somewhere.

Then I somehow make it to my neighborhood restaurant and eat. Amazing food. Cheap. Worldclass. And friendly. They bring me ice water and coffee automatically, because they know that I always like it that way. They hand me a cool towel, because they know that Bangkok's heat makes me sweat, and they are sincerely happy to see me, because I am a regular customer, I eat there all the time, and they truly appreciate my patronage. And they are genuinely nice people. They somehow counterbalance the foulness of this city which has darkened my mood.

Then I walk through the mall, any mall, and flirt with the shop girls, the counter girls, and yes, the cosmetic reps. Amazing girls. Stunning, intangibly graceful. No matter that I am more than twice their age. No matter that I am no catch, myself. I am not handsome, I am not slim, and I am not really rich. By their standards, though, I am very, very comfortable, I am very generous, I dress well, speak enough Thai to get by, and I am fun, and I enjoy joking around and teasing and making fun of myself. It is likely that in no other city in the world could a guy like me have an actual shot with girls like these.

My favorite thing to do, bar none, is to walk around and talk with a girl who is trying to sell me something. If I really like her, I ask her which one is her favorite. She shows me. I ask why. She tells me. If it is affordable to me that day, and if I am convinced that she really likes this thing, whatever it is, and she cannot afford to buy one for herself, I buy it. And then I give it to her. And then I tell her to have a nice day. And I walk away.

Who knows where the ripples from that one weird act of random generosity will wash up? If it only makes that girl's smile a little brighter that day, it was worth it. If it makes her muse, and wonder, and feel good about herself and life, then it was worth it. If it incites her to pay it forward, and engage in another act of random kindness to someone else, it was worth it. I will probably never see her again. But if I do, maybe we will talk, and maybe we will agree to have coffee, and maybe, over time, we will become friends. Or not. Either way, it was worth it.

Invariably, I develop an appetite. I am a man. Rather than enlist in a long seduction, I find my feet following an infinite series of well-worn invisible paths from all parts of the city, and I end up walking into SoL.

I have several regulars there, now. One of them will be there, always, to set up my drink, hand me a cool washcloth, and kiss my cheek. Then we catch up on current events and gossip. Once this is done, the dance ensues. Is Khun M in the mood to take several ladies out to dinner? Or does he only have time to take one or two or three favorites home for a relaxing evening? Or does he prefer to take one or two ladies into the backroom for a leg cramping blowjob?

Once that is sorted, I have one of the ladies ring the bell for me, I say hello to each and every girl on the premises (and often end up inviting just one more to partake in the coming sanuk), then I check bin with Khun L** and get on with life.

So much about Bangkok is maddening, and I definitely have glimpsed the reality behind the curtain here. I am no longer distracted or deceived by the smiles.

But my girls at SoL are a constant. They are reliable, and by far, among the most sincere people that I know.

Indeed, she is. However you may have a hard time finding her in next few days. SOL is closed for the next three days (or so I have been informed, at least).

A well deserved and needed rest for the girls. Hope they all enjoy the time off.

Well Magi, I guess anyone who just saw one side of anywhere would be nuts... or one-eyed, like my little friend.

K.David, yes take your carrot.

factorx... for your engineering job I think you'll have to apply through the channels of companies that would hire someone or contract them in contracts overseas, and maybe you'd get put here. Unless you are independent maybe. That's my perception, could be wrong. Thais won't hire you over their own people, I believe. Even if you would accept 12K a month. Why do you think there are so many farangs here wandering around trying to teach English language?

I don't know much about engineering. SOL may need an aquaduct soon with all the action on the new bathroom seat. On a very related matter, I recently had a try-out with the newest girl name of... Leah. Actually it's not, but her's is pronounced after a wellknown brand of chips or crisps as English call them. Ok. Leah has a voluptuous type body, a bit chubby maybe, a very cute face and great tits and a wonderful pale almond skin color. Bottom very good for rear position doggy style. Not too bad service though is still learning the ropes--that is, still a bit impatient and is still learning to take more time with her ministrations. I might give her another go soon I think. Hope she sticks around.

EDIT IN: Oops, SirT--- I just read your post. I was typing while you posted. 3 days, good for them. Well, in that case they'd better get lots of rest for next week!!! 555
