In the Star of Light this may not seem likely ( or maybe it does......).....with some of the ladies who have seen a number of years of service.
But I do believe that some ladies, especially amongst the ranks of new ladies upon just entering the bar, would be particularly open to any number of suggestions which might give them the choice of not taking up the blow-job bar work.
Becoming a sex worker is not usually a choice as we know choice to be ; more a matter of deciding what area one wishes to work in.
And I know the clap-trap that some guys trot out that goes somewhat like............." but she could spend her days doing 12 hour shifts in back-breaking work in the dirt for pennies all her life. Then she wouldn't have to work in the sex industry."
I suppose one could consider that as a generous choice.
I assume that peole who hold this view have never been in a similar situation themselves and have called it a choice.
Most families are surrounded by other economic pressures., needs and demands that a life on the farm or in the factory at sub-subsistence level would not meet.
I may be wrong, but to do the sort of work asked of a sex worker, day in and day out and not allow it to be soul-destroying, the lady has to have had the ability and insight ( consciously or not ) to protect herself, her spirit and her soul by constructing a number of shields and defences which might aid her preservation.
Most of the ladies at the Star of Light bar do this exceedingly well but without compromising their attitude and generosity and care.
And as for the Star of Light bar ladies wishing to monopolize, I have never found another bar like this in any category, where there is a complete lack of rivalry or jealousy and the ladies are more than willing to share their customers with one another and actively encourage a customer to go with another lady or two.

No doubt that we monopolize each other when we are together, JW.
That may be one reason why guys like you and me, who after all, (speaking really only for myself here), do not bear a strong resemblance to Brad Pitt, patronize them on such a regular basis.
I think that things last for as long as they last. Whatever they may be.
When I am with my ladies, we are most definitely together. I crack up when I hear guys talk about the "girlfriend experience," or "GFE."
That does not even describe it.
As far as I am concerned, no other category of woman on the face of the planet knows how to care for a man as well as a Thai woman.
I just wish that I had greater resources. I would make a garden palace, and populate it with all my girls.

I just have to chime in and change the subject. I visited SOL this week--and it was the first time since the remodelling.
I wish it was the old place. Don't get me wrong. The ladies at SOL are still as talented and gifted as ever. But the new in house service area is really only appealing if you don't mind anyone watching.
Granted the couches have always provided that possibility. And I have been in there many times when guys were just doing the "out there" experience.
But I miss even the modicum of privacy that was provided by the corner area before it was combined into the new bathroom.
I definitely think anyone should read the posts about taking the girls out to a short time area nearby. This certainly explains why more guys are talking about this in their posts.
Since I tend to like a nice in house BJ, I may have to search for another venue. Kangaroo still has two rooms. They charge a higher rate now--800baht--but I think it is worth it for the privacy. And they have a few 'veterans' there. I also like that Lolitas at least has a curtained area.
But don't get me wrong. SOL is the place for knowledge. I got a public one there from a lady (N**? I think) and she did some hand mouth action that was unique. This place and Chavalla really has some talented ladies. SOL has two or three 5+ year veterans.

I agree with you ely 1959, that the bar in the Star of Light is not the place to go for a private bj.
It is a semi-private spectacle for those who choose to dabble in the visual delights of seeing others being blown or even at times peforming fully and the dubious pleasure of seeing ladies performing without the protection of any degree of privacy and the fulfilment of desire for those who yearn to be seen whilst either being blown or performing fully.
The back-room/ bathroom offers enough privacy although not absolutely private. But I would still say that this is the best place in town for a bj. And of course the attitude, lack of inhibition and calmness of the ladies is so appealing and unsurpassable.
And yes, I too go for take-out, not because of any reservation about being seen. I couldn't really care less. I go for take-out for two things.
Number One : I far prefer to have more room and time with the lady before she has to attend to another customer.
Number Two : I know the lady is far more comfortable in a private hotel short-time room and if she is feeling comfortable, she will give me that much, much, much more.

Gee, so many aspects of my psyche have just become clear to me! Thank you guys for posting. For me, SOL has always been an experience for those who can look at the mirror and see something he's not allowed to see in any other situation in society, and yet smile with acceptance... Good atmosphere.
Yes, I am talking about a blowjob bar in which there are blowjobs and pleasure and lust and the sights and sounds and smells are going on all around me.
In this situation it's the more sensually ecstatic aspects of the personality brought to the surface. Different aspects than say, right now at my office. SOL were still charging 500 baht for months after Kangaroo hiked theirs up to 700 baht.
I hadn't heard about Kangaroo's recent rise to 800 baht. And then maybe, Dr.L. can still get his surgically- gloved finger sucked there for 500 baht, this amount just for him, because of the custom he manages to squeeze over there. Or maybe he hasn't had a bj there for a couple of years or more.
The Star of Light in-bar bj charge has been 700 baht for some months now. And still the best value and experience.

On going back and reading this, Joe, I think that you have really nailed something here.
The girls do work in a soul destroying job, at least, we see it that way. What do we really know about what it means to be Thai, and to have a family in the provinces? Not much, really. Our knowledge is intellectual.
I think about this, sometimes.
What sort of circumstances would result in an aunt facilitating the employment of her niece in a sucking bar? I used to think that they were sisters. I see now, in retrospect, that I was told this because the girls did not know the words for "aunt" and "niece." They know how to say "sister of my mother," though, and that made the lights come on, for me.
Obviously, the mother knows what the hell goes on in there.
They are such honorable people. From one perspective, it seems so contradictory to say so, but it is true. At least, I have known these girls for going on three years now, and I have never seen any indication of fraud, or deceit, or dealing in bad faith. There were times that I thought, "I am being given a Thai face-saving version of events, here," only to find out later that the version of events that I was given was literal and factual, with no embellishment, no alteration of circumstances. In many ways, the girls in this bar, yes, this "sucking bar," have undermined everything that I thought that I knew about Thais and about Thailand. I do not consider myself a hypercritical man. I consider myself a realist. I am an observer of my local reality, and for the past three years, that reality has been predominately Thai.
Nor do I consider myself a relativist. I know the difference between "right" and "wrong," and I have to say, I do not think that sucking dicks for a living is the worst thing that one can do. I can think of many other worse things, like being a politician, for example. Or running a corrupt business, or a criminal enterprise. Or engaging in crime. Indeed, just acting like a dick in your personal dealings is far worse.
So I agree, utterly, that somehow, these girls have succeeded in preserving a core of themselves that is profoundly moral, even while they engage in commercial activities that society brands as outside the pale.
I do not think that this was always so. As I have mentioned previously, I think that the girls in SoL are akin to a species of priestess, and that the ethos in the bar is pagan, and the values are those of Eros. In older societies, they very likely would have been widely recognized and honored for their roles. While society has changed, somehow, the current of human behavior that they represent has endured, and there is something sacred in it.
So, like my esteemed colleague seajohn, I see them as purveyors of ecstasy, engaging in an ancient form of priapal worship.
How is that for "intellectualization?"
