Having read what it says and other sources of conjecture, together with considering the lyrics of the song from the 1920's, I would think that, underneath all the possible explanations the meaning originally represented the sweetest thing that each sex could offer the other., and the fact that males use sexual slang far more in their everyday expressions than females gave rise (?) to their usage burying the female meaning of the term, and the male usage of the term owning the word. I could be wrong.

No poster so far has used the word 'tasty'.
Is this because they are desperately avoiding a charge being laid at their door of autohomosexuality ?
I would think that for many girls a taste of my male poon (tang) would be very tasty. However, if she is a Star of Light girl, after so many, maybe mine might not be so memorably delicious as her first few of the day.

I am no etymologist, and cod etymology is to be taken with a large piinch of salt, but I would not be too dismissive of the possible 'putain'.
In the South of France, they pronounce the word 'pu-taingue' (rhymes with lane) (in Marseilles). Which is not far off the mark.
One can imagine that 'my sweet whore' became 'my sweet vagina'. But that is really inconclusive - possible does not mean plausible.
More research is needed, which I am willing to carry out.

Better to take the Skytrain to Asoke, then get on the underground to Silom station.
From Silom, walk over to the Dusitani Hotel, and have the doorman get you a taxi to the Starbucks on Suriwong. Then walk up the soi to the ladies.
Tell them that I miss them.

Have I been doing it a stupid way all along?
I miss them, too. I need to start getting some numbers of my favorites so I can time my visits better.

Well I just want to add some view to the SOL big thread. Had never been there before and please note: I do NOT judge anyones good experience or liking of the place! Just my own humble experience!
Since I have read the thread here and of course got curious I finally decided I wanted to see the place "live". Patpong is not my regular hangout. It used to be many many years ago - but these days it is not to my liking. But a little field study can never hurt!
So went there just the other day in the daytime and walked in. I was very surprised that it was not much bigger than my bathroom at home! And the 2 famous sofas was really open and close to the bar. A brother had just had his treatment and was pulling his pants back on again. Maybe it is just me - but I was happy that I did not see what had preceeded that...... ok maybe I am too conservative or old fashioned - but have a BJ in front of everyone else is not my cup of tea! And again - I am not downgrading anyone who fancies it!
Well - since there I felt I must find out what the hype is about the place. Sat down and had a beer. Soon joined by a sweet girl with very flat chest. Soon she suggested that we either go to the sofa - or go to the backroom which is the toilet! In the corner there is a small chair/stool or whatever you wish to call it, which is very small and placed in the corner. Ok - so coming that far, we set out doing the dirty deed. Soon another girl joined and watched with interest! She claimed she was the "teacher" of the girls (!) and that the one I had was a newbie and she wanted to check she did a good job! Well - to be honest - class was not bad at all but I was not relaxed at the situation.
So we decided we go to a nearby ST hotel. I have really not spent a lot of time at such a place and boy was it seedy! Brrr! Before leaving they wanted me to pay BF and drinks. No probs with that - but they also wanted the full 700 B for the BJ in the backroom! Since it only lasted a few minutes and we stopped for going to the hotel I mildly questioned that. So they charged 300 instead!
Ok - so in hotel the ladies did a fairly good job with both "teacher" and "student" taking part. Sure - they were both ok and maybe I have lost the ability to be overexcited? It was an ok performance by a couple of girls that I would rank 4-6. Nice and friendly but no lookers.
So all in all I can honestly say that I have had much more fun experiences in many other situations. Still I guess this place may attract many guys - but all to his own and maybe my preferences are different. Interesting to have seen it - but will not return. Perhaps my regular GF have spoiled me with her performance!
Conclusion: did not do it for me but do not regret having tried it and of course anyone interested in this kind of place should try it out!
Oh - costs: In bar the BF was 2x 400 B plus drinks. Hotel 400 B (2 hours) and they wanted 1500 B each. I also tipped 500 B each which they seemed happy with!

Jojje - your experience is very similar to mine. I was also persuaded to try out SOL after reading so many rave reviews on this forum. I was surprised to find out that it was a bar I had visited many years ago and had never considered returning to. The lay-out then was, IMHO, better than now as they still had the cut out seats at the bar so those of us preferring some privacy did have an option apart from the stool in the toilet.
ma9 - is there some hidden joke that we are missing in your directions to the bar? It would be quite bizarre if you have been visiting the bar as often as posted and seriously still recommending this route.
