Genocidal comments,, WTF???
It just amazes me that some in this forum, perhaps due to their investent in a stinking bar, are unable to take honest, forthright criticism and then turn on anyone that dares to speak out.
I have spent many a night in toxic bar and happily tell of a nice place that RTB has there. Perhaps if the owners/lovers of SOL would take a peak at toxic, then they could see what a quality, clean smelling bar looksand smells like.
I have spent many hours in numerous bars/ hotels etc in Thailand ( and throughout SE Asia) and have visted Lolitas,, all these places were relatively nice, clean and did not stink.
To turn my criticism of this bar into a personal attack merely shows that you are just trying to protect your bad investments or look to excuse your bad taste.
keep it going,, but newbies will at least have a second thought of visiting your bar.
As previously, previously, previously stated,, I think the gals may well have talent,, why not advertise more along the lines of "take away".

PS sorry to alarm you about the genocide comment, Mel, but I thought you said you wanted all the Aboriginal people of Australia to die and that they were basically subhuman? Well, that's controversial, you know. I haven't attacked you, nor will I, since I'm content with what I enjoy. But I hope you keep posting; it's starting to get funny about all the nice smelling bars and hotels in Bangkok. What else smells good?

Back to what this particular forum is about -- SOL... Went there yesterday for a mid-morning visit. Was flying out in the afternoon and wanted to leave with a nice memory of Bangkok. Well, it turned out to be two great memories -- one after the other!! These girls sure know how to suck the living daylights out of a guy! BTW, the girls and the place smelled fine to me. Happy SOLing gents!!

I think the personal hygiene is scrupulously clean.
Some guys, who are used to really good bars like Toxic and hotel lounges and Titanium will find the Star of Light dingy. But really one can't make such a comparison. They are operating for a different market with a different modus operandi. For me, it's just right, for what these girls admirably do day after day....and long may they continue to do so.
By the way, I do not know of any foreigner investment or ownership in the place at all. It's definitely Thai owned and managed 100% and they would want to keep it that way.
I have often proposed that I could rent out the back room there on a yearly basis, but they were not very enthusiastic about the idea, even in Khun Vichai's day.

On Saturday afternoon, I went down Patpong way for a beer or two and of course a visit to that Shining Beacon of Light. Even in the afternoon, and despite the fact that the view is obstructed, I can see the Star of Light's luminosity guiding me to pleasurable pastures.
I'm not exactly new to this, but I still get a weird feeling of apprehension as I pass Foodland and try to avert my gaze from the Kratingdaeng sleeveless-shirt wearing fellas lining the soi. No doubt it's the years and years of conditioning in that faraway land of Canada that still has a grip on me. 'Maybe', I always think to myself, 'Maybe this is a bad thing I'm about to do. Maybe I should turn around and march right into a monastery to cleanse me of these evil thoughts.' Of course, I'm usually thinking this as I'm turning the doorknob and plunging myself deep into sin.
However, on Saturday the place was closed! Lost in philosophy and ethics, I hadn't even noticed the small sign on the door as I was turning the handle: "Bar closed Friday and Saturday. Come back Sunday."
Anyone know what was going on?
My mind took it as a sign that perhaps my previous train of thought had been correct and I should find the nearest monk and submit myself to years of celibacy and intense psychological isolation and introspection.
Then I remember that Lolita's was right down the street.
I'd never been there before, but it's a pretty nice setup. The place is definitely 4 or 5 times the size of SoL, with a much more comfortable backroom for indulgence. The price was the same (700B), and I even had _another_ girl who's name is something that Canadians say at the end of every second sentence (hopefully, we all know the anser to that 'riddle' by now).
Despite all those similarities and benefits, I still don't think the place holds a candle to the Star up the soi. Just didn't have the friendliness or comfortable feeling that keeps me coming back to that tiny little bar with the phantom smells. Granted, I didn't exactly 'feel at home' the first time I went to SoL, but I could tell that Lolita's just doesn't have what I'm looking for.
Well, I know this is the SoL forum, not the Lolita's forum, so I'll stop there. I just want to know if anyone knows why SoL was closed this weekend? I know Wisaka Bucha Day is this Thursday, but you'd figure if they'd have a substitute holiday, they'd schedule it for next weekend. Or better yet, have it on a weekday, when they won't lose as many customers.
Wow, I'm just realizing how long this post was. My apologies to those of you that made it this far.
