By any means, I will NOT let this thread die, not that it need my support.
On the subject of the 'system' and police corruption, why is it that people who come here (insert metaphor: see through the lens of, project their) Western values on questions of Thai behavior?
One poster suggests a higher pay scale for the police; another poster points out that 'business' would still be done, a point with which I agree.
All the while, the intimation is that it's BAD. But it doesn't keep us from taking advantage of it, any more than the MIB do. Sure, some of us sugar-coat it, and make ourselves feel better by doing it with a measure of kindness and compassion, but a certain pejorative attitude arises in the description of the 'plight' of these girls.
Get over it. The system works. It is not always fair, perhaps only infrequently so. But where does the concept of 'fair' come from?
We are guilty of empathy, with a Western tint to it. Who among us would like to suck penises 12-14 hours a day to make ends meet? (Perhaps I shouldn't have asked that here, but it was rhetorical.)
But when I see any of the girls I know at SoL, and similar venues, there worst fear is that they will NOT have any to suck, i.e., no customers, as in the demise of Lolita's Patpong. They do what they do with a smile and more than a little grace. Enough of this magnanimous protectionism toward them, with the attendant self-deception about making a difference by being kind. Are you not intrinsically kind, but rather feigning kindness to assuage your guilt at participating in this 'system'?
Give it a break. Enjoy, and realize that you are doing neither harm nor good.

And Finchy, a short time with SOL girls is never 2 hours if you bring the to a nice place. It was more like 5.

michi, you have excelled in your ability as well as in your attitude.
I perhaps haven't taken it so far, as there are some I've never been interested in.
However, speaking Thai and all as I do, I've often found girls at most establishments more appreciative to a customer who views himself as a customer but also as a kind of patron to their particular artistry. This can be done without losing one's head and fortune as so oft related in the tragic newbie articles. It's an attitude of concern that is appreciated and reciprocated by the best of girls.
