Ok. I'll ask you to consider a Thai customer, born and bred in Thailand, goes into a bj bar and becomes a regular customer. He can talk to the girls on the same level. But what is in the back of their minds, even after years?
He's a customer.
That's what I think is going to be very hard to shake. He didn't meet them normally first.
I assume you still partake of these girls services, btw. So when you've talked politics, etc, you get them to give you a bj? If so, that's not quite the same as a normal friend, is it?

This friend vs. customer conversation has occurred on this SOL thread a few times before. And, you know, that is much to the place's credit and the girls' credit.
There is nothing impossible about becoming friends with people with whom you have a business relationship. It happens all the time in every sector of society. It is also frequently called marriage. A key to friendship's survival and growth is communication. Naturally, language proficiency could assist that communication; though it depends on the persons involved. Plenty of people do business together and don't wind up friends at all.

A little sad to see the financial melt-down / strong Thai baht / political unrest situation biting into the life of bars.
SOL is down to just 12 ladies at the moment.
This time also co-incides with the kids school holidays at which time a few girls would take some of the time off to be with their youngsters, but quite a few have permanently left the bar and the work, even People like Khun Rabbit.
She was there a long time, bless her little cotton socks.
She left to sell food and now she's escalated to selling blouses and dresses. I wish her well and success.
Yes, the new lady is Khun Urn's cousin. Haven't tried her. (Waiting for a rainy day.)
The owner/manager is casually looking (?) for more girls but quite honestly, the 12 already there can easily handle the low volume of customer traffic. I suppose she has high hopes for a High Season to kick in but I think she's going to have a long wait.
And as for friends, some of my good friends have worked or work in the Star of Light.

Well, she's small and thin and if the truth be known, which it widely is, she sucks and f***s like a March Hare ( that is to those of who have had a March Hare or two), but over the last year she's had her hair done differently for almost every week.

Don't post that often, and I have retired from my SOL encounters for a while (JW can understand why), but I raise a drink to Rabbit's departure (I still called her Katai). She had been at SOL for a long time and was always very friendly and a talker--did a few social engagements with her and she was always fun to be around. One of the last of the old guard, so to speak. Cute girl, always threatened the GF that I would go "lawnghai kap Katai", that had a certain poetic ring of truth in it. Guess I can't do that anymore. Did she go back home to work or is selling in BKK?

Well, I'm sorry if I disrespected you (from a Thai perspective), if you're older than me...I'm only 51! haha...
Many of the girls I speak of end up having me as a customer, but never "in the bar"...maybe that makes a difference? Anyway, to each his own, all the more power to you if you're happy and if the girl is happy!!
