After living in Shanghai for 6 years and never doing more than just talk to Chinese working ladies I finally broke my barrier last time I was there. I lived there from ’95 to the end of 2002, and recently moved back to Aus for Uni. Staying with my parents the whole time in Shanghai and usually having a Falang gf I never had the chance or the urge to take a Chinese girl home. The usual popular places....the Pudong River park, Nanking Road East (or West) walkway, the Botanic Gdns, and few more which I cannot recall, but yes, I'll definite yell for you if I go there again.

There are some great looking chicks in Shanghai and not surprising, a lot of young lao wai guys who speak pretty good chinese hitting the bars.
These must have been 'out of Shanghai girls' or not local. They are easily impressed, but on the other hand pretty shy.
Windows Roadside is on Maoming Nan Lu, but maybe you meant Windows Too a sister bar to Windows Roadside, but it is on Nang Jing Xi Lu.
I am not familiar with a Windows 3. Is it new or maybe closed in 2002?
The generation gap in China is very big, it would be very unusual for a 20 year old girl to hang out with a 30 year old girl. Especially for a university girl. Just lucky I guess.
Did the girl leave an English nick name because if she wrote in Chinese characters your Mom must be able to read Chinese, which is quite an accomplishment.
If she wrote in PinYin (English characters), Chinese names are not usually gender specific, how did she know it was a girl? Cool mom.

Adhok, wrong places mate. Pudong has a few huge disco's but i havent spent much time in Pu Dong. Pu xi's where the action is. Next time you're there, go to Pegasus (nightclub near Hong Kong Plaza) and tell tom (one of the barmen) or william (another one) that Linc sent u, guarantee you'll get as many free drinks and fun as u can handle then go to Mao ming Lu if u haven't had enough there at pegasus. Or another favourite of mine is Windows Too which is situated at Jing An Si a plaza sorta thing near the Ritz Carlton on Nan Jing Xi Lu
