2 day trip from Pattaya to PP. 0600 Bangkok - Pattaya - Krat Bus. Bus arrived at 0540 and didn't stick around for 0600, seems it doesn't have a set departure time from Pattaya. 160 baht for the painful 4 1/2 hour bus ride to Krat w/ only 1 piss break. Traveling with a friend. Arrive Krat at 1030, mini-van to border 110 baht (1 hour drive). No problem with Thai immigration, Cambodian Immigration doing the 1100 baht fee (after the long ride just wanted to get to PP with as little arguements as possible). 200 baht for a car to Otto's place (gas prices must of increase the fee). Otto's for lunch and asked advice for transportation to PP. It was around 1PM and Otto recommended staying in Koh Kong and catching a van in the morning for 800 baht. Only had 2 days, so searched for a car/driver for the 6 hour drive. 80.00 US and we're on our way (40.00 dollars each), of course they stuck us with one other passenger. 6 hours later checked into California 2 Hotel, 18.00 US a night. Nice rooms with hot water and 4 nice looking I'm taking nice girls working behind the bar/counter. Free breakfast in the morning. Hit Martini's, selection wasn't that good. 2-3 really good looking girls (more like school girls), the good looking ones looked way to young. Was disappointed, noted that on average Cambodian ladies seem a little plum from their Thai counterparts. Hit a couple of other bars, similar activity. Finally hit the casino for 2-3 hours.............lost of course. My friend picked up a cute girl, looked young but he's 22 years old so wouldn't of been a major age difference. Girl indicated she was 19. Slept along, woke up early. Arranged with the same Koh Kong PP driver to take me and my friend sight seeing. 100.00 US for 2 hours of sightseeing in PP and the 7 hour trip back to Koh Kong (rain/ferry delays). Over night in Koh Kong, limited night time entertainment. Same with PP, those old enough were a little plum for my taste. They were asking 300 baht for ST and 700 baht for LT. Stayed at the Bohpra Hotel, only 8.00 US a night. Wouldn't recommend this hotel, but for 8 dollars wouldn't and didn't get much. 0630 motorbike to border (80 baht), no problems with either immigration and we're safetly back in Thailand. 0710 van back to Krat and another 110 baht. 165 baht for the bus back to Pattaya. 6 hours later in Pattaya getting drenched and painted. Be prepared if you take the Krat - Pattaya bus that I'll make a metric shit ton of stops and will take the 5-6 hours to travel 380 KM and that the bus will be packed or atleast it was yesterday. Overall for the sightseeing and experience trip was well worth it. Though next time I'll fly to PP and bring a Thai GF along.

I'd have to agree on flying. Not to be crtical of you, but it would have been less expensive to fly than pay for all the various forms of transportation you used, and you would have had more time left over.

you grossly overpaid for transportation. a moto from immigration into Koh Kong is 40 baht at the most, and a seat in a van to PP is about 600. even hiring an entire car, 80 US is just insane! you definitely should've flown. vox

When I was in Cambodia (SR & PP) last April the going rate for car/driver was $20 a day. I would expect it to be a little higher to compensate for petro costs.

For those of you with enough time : you better take the boat from koh kong to shihanoukville and from there the local bus to PP which makes for a very beautifull trip. Don't forgot to sit on top off the boat if the weather is fine. Inside the seats are reather crampy and on top [ on the roof ] you will enjoy the scenery and the weather much more.BTW don't forget your suncream. Enjoy

Yes, I should of flown to PP. Sightseeing and experience was worth (now that it's over with). PP a motor bike ride was 50 cents to 1.00, saw my life flash before me a number of times...........motor drive had some skills. Next trip looking at flying to PP, spending 2 days there and doing a overland trip to Vietnam. I hope the roads are better. In Pattaya right now, safe and merry with TQ on my mind. Too bad the U.S. Navy is in town.

Report from Bangkok Post dated 14 December 2012 :- Thai-Cambodia buses ready to roll ========================= Thailand and Cambodia will launch the first bus services linking Bangkok with Siem Reap and Phnom Penh in the next two weeks. The first bus service between the two countries will debut on Dec 29, said The Transport Co, a state enterprise under the Transport Ministry. The service includes the Bangkok-Siem Reap route, a 424-kilometre trip that takes about seven hours. The two countries will provide two trips a day. The fare will be 750 baht or US$25. The Bangkok-Phnom Penh service, covering 719km and taking 11 hours, will run once a day with a fare of 900 baht or $30. Air-conditioned buses will serve both routes, which will run through Aranyaprathet district in Sa Kaeo province. Siem Reap, the home of Angkor Wat, is the most popular tourist destination for Thai and foreign travellers visiting Cambodia. Transport Co managing director Wutthichart Kalayanamit signed an agreement with Natthakarn (Cambodia) Co at the state enterprise's head office in Bangkok on Friday. Transport Co plans to eventually provide as many as 20 trips a day on both routes if needed to meet the rising demand of travellers between the two countries. Niyom Waiyaratpanich, vice-president of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, said the Thai-Cambodian bus routes reflected the goal of Asean to build more links among its 10 members. The new bus routes will help accommodate an expected upturn in travel when the Asean Economic Community is launched in late 2015, he added.

Report from Bangkok Post dated 21 February 2013 :- Bangkok-Cambodia bus service begins ============================ The first buses directly connecting Thailand and Cambodia left Bangkok on Thursday, headed for Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, with the launch of a regular service to bolster tourism and economic ties between the two countries. The first airconditioned bus from Bangkok to Phnom Penh left Mor Chit terminal, followed by the first bus to Siem Reap, the Transport Co announced. The state company made a test-run on the two routes on Dec 29, 2012, but the service was not launched because "Cambodia was not ready for it", Transport Co managing director Wutthichart Kalayanamitr said in a statement. The two countries are now running a daily service between the two destinations. The bus to Phnom Penh leaves the Thai capital at 8.15am and the return trip is at 7am. The fare is 900 baht, or US$30. The 719 kilometre trip takes 11 hours. The Siem Reap line departs Bangkok at 9am and the return service leaves the Cambodian town at 8am. Siem Reap is the home of two major tourist attractions, Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. The fare is 750 baht, or US$25, for the 424km trip, which takes seven hours. The two routes enter Cambodia through Aranyaprathet district in Sa Kaeo. Transport Co also runs a service to Vientiane, the Lao capital, and Pak Se in southern Laos.
