Quote: from quack quack on 12:46 pm on June 8, 2011 So far, no European has ever gotten physical with me, if that were to happen, I'd pick up the nearest chair & clout that person over the head.
Demonstrating how classy you are, no doubt.
Quote: from quack quack on 12:46 pm on June 8, 2011 It's amazing how polite the people in the East almost always are, compared to their European counter parts, the only exception being Hong Kong, where I've gotten into innumerable name calling matches with the obnoxious Chinese of that place.
Demonstrating a pattern, no doubt.
Quote: from quack quack on 12:46 pm on June 8, 2011 My problenm in such encounters is that those Chinese switch to yelling in Chinese when the mutual abuse gets rough; don't understand Chinese, so, am left befuddled; have to figure out a way with dealing with such predicaments.
Have you tried a technique known as "ignoring"?
Quote: from quack quack on 12:46 pm on June 8, 2011 My ONLY attractions re Europe is the divine classical music available there & which is very occasionaly to be found in Tokyo ( at ten times the price).
I guess you never heard of downloads. I wouldn't think so. Now, let's pay attention to the word "ONLY" in use above, denoting an absolute.
Quote: from quack quack on 12:46 pm on June 8, 2011 Wimbledon & Roland Garos are the only other European attractions.
... which isn't quite so absolute...

I m french and I avoid to go to Paris as much as I can, the place is terrible and overun by arabs and black. Last time I was there I got insulted in broad daylight by a black for refusing to buy the rubbish he was trying to sell me, this is what he yelled "Those f***ing french bastard are so stingy I wish they all die!" Remember, this is the french capital, 2PM... And some wonder why people become racist?

I had the misfortune of transiting through DeGaule International. There were minimmal signs there in English (drats that would be an admission of the failed international use of their dying language). So I (politely in English) asked the nearest airport official for directions and was told quite snottily in French: "This is France and we speak French here". To which I replied, "Lady this is NOT France this is Charles DeGaule INTERNATIONAL airport, and if you don't have the courtesy to try to answer a civil question, then you and your arrogant French friends can just choke on it." She was too flustered to even respond but several people clustered within earshot did, with reserved applause. I compare that to the poor, and poorly educated Thais, who would go completely out of their way to help a lost farang. There are far better places to spend my money than with such arrogant people as the many French that I have crossed paths with. Please if you are French and are not arrogant then don't take offense - too many of your countrymen certainly are.

Love reading about foreigners making a spectacle of themselves in whichever country they visit. Please continue.

"Please if you are French and are not arrogant then don't take offense - too many of your countrymen certainly are. " I am not French but must say this attitude is very much a Paris area thing, I have had great times in the countryside and had help from many that do not speak any English. Other Frenchmen comment on how rude Parisians are ! BK
