Indonesian men top the list when it comes to frequency of sexual intercourse, according to a survey conducted among sexually active people in 10 Asian territories.
The latest "Ideal Sex in Asia Survey" found Indonesian men had sex 9.8 times each month on average. Coming in second were Filipino men, who had sex 9.4 times a month, while Indian men averaged 8.8 times each month.
As for Thai men, they had sex about 7.7 times in a month.
The findings of the survey were released at a Bangkok hotel on 24 November, 2011. The survey covered 1,658 men and 1,624 women in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. All respondents were between 31 and 74 years old, and had sexual intercourse in the past 12 months.
As for female respondents, Indian women reported the highest frequency of sexual intercourse at 8.7 times each month on average. Coming in next were Indonesian and Malaysian women, both having sex about 6.8 times in a month.
Thai women had sex just 5.7 times in one month, according to the survey.
Assoc Prof Dr George Lee, consultant urological surgeon at Monash University in Kuala Lumpur, said the survey found erection hardness remained a key factor for sex satisfaction among most Asians.
Only one third of the respondents felt that sexual intercourse duration as an important factor when it came to satisfaction.
Asst Prof Dr Pansak Sugkraroek, a well known sexual health expert and obgyn doctor in Thailand, said it was estimated that some 2.7 million Thai men had erectile dysfunction.
Pansak said apart from medicines, the change in lifestyle could also help combat against ED.

Good food for thought. Like all surveys this one throws up more riddles. Thai women have sex 5.7 times a month while Thai men have sex 7.7 times. How do they account for the difference ? Either the population of Thai women is more than that of Thai men, or men's sex also includes sex with other men, ladyboys and foreign women. Did not the women count lesbian sex as sex ? Did this survey consider all sexual acts as "having sex" or only male-female penetration ?
And I agree with you, BK, they clearly did not cover the real champions from Sukhumvit and Cowboy whose daily -- not monthly -- average is 5 !

Did the respondants keep track over a period of time or was it just a lot of estimates? I'm sure most men would boast of more sex than they really had and the women would say it was less so as not to sound too slutty.
I wouldn't pay much notice to it.
Reminds me of Basil Fawlty telling his psychiatrist guest how many times he "manages it" and Basil says "two or three times a week" but the psychiatrist was referring to going away on holidays.

Probably it would be more interesting to ask the same question from Thai couples and study the difference in frequency of their sexual intercourse!
On a more serious note it is of course possible that the population mean of sexual intercourse for Thai men and women is the same even though the observed sample means are 5.7 and 7.7.
