I've heard a few grim accounts of farangs losing quite a bit of money running a bar. Wrong location, wrong style and staff taking the money and running.
But what about the success stories ?
Surely there must be some quiet successes out there ?
Quiet? Because they don't want to attract unwelcome attention!

You mean Boss Hogg ?
I have downloaded it but not had the time to read it yet.
I would think that Boss Hogg is an exception and I would not add him into my equation. He is a pretty well known and famous character with plenty of capital no doubt. No, I am talking about smaller one or two bar operations.

There a a lot. Particularly in Pattaya. Beer bars and Go-Go bars that have been around a long time and are owned by farangs. The secret? Hospitable friendly guys who remember it's a business not a hobby and who are not absentee landlords or leave it in the hands of a manager or Mia. Good examples - Misty's, Dogs Bollocks, Dolls House.
