Here's a couple of places that I like to go to shoot some pool. ÝNot necessarily the best places, but if I am in BKK here is where you are likely to find me:
- Flyers - At the mouth of Soi 22, this place kind of slides up and down on my scale. ÝThere are a number of regulars, men and women who like to drink a beer and play pool. ÝMy guess is that some, but not all, of the women are retired/semi-retired agogo or bar beer girls. ÝDitto some of the staff. ÝAlso a nice place to make some friends with other long term visitors and locals (expats and Thais). Ý Pluses: ÝDecent atmosphere, stable clientele, some attractive ladies. ÝPlus some more salacious places (and a halfway decent Internet Cafe) just across the street. ÝMinuses: ÝDrinks are mildly expensive. ÝMost of the tables are not quite flush, although better than most other BKK bars. ÝAircon can be a bit spotty at times, either too cold or too warm. ÝThe manager seems to be a bit of an incompetent prick who could eventually run the place into the ground.
- Brunswick - This place has some of the nicest tables I've ever played on, in Thailand or out. Ý There are different size tables, up to full regulation. ÝLeather pockets, the staff will rerack for you between games. Ý All equipment is exceptionally well taken care of, especially for Thailand. ÝThis is mostly a serious pool crowd. Ý I found this place when a Swedish acquaintance almost forced me to go ÝHad a great time. ÝHe claims to have inadvertently interrupted a couple in the john who couldn't find a shorttime hotel somewhere else, but I can't verify that story. ÝYou can find this place by heading down Soi Nana past all of the usual suspects. ÝBrunswick's is just past the Soi 6 entrance, on the left hand side shortly before you get to the Thai Tobacco Monopoly.
- Bush Garden Coffee Shop -Ý This is a relatively newer bar beer just above the Thermae (there, you should be able to find it now), with outdoor facings and two pool tables. ÝNot a bad spot, they had free popcorn as a snack and even a decent pizza could be ordered. Ý Not great pool tables, but the competition was weak and I could play for a long time on my initial 20 baht.
Thanks BK. A side question, maybe will become a separate post: if Clinton Plaza is demolished as I've read in several places, how will it (if at all) affect this place and the Thermae?

- not as popular as the 'waterfall' bar opposite, the smaller bar/restaurant on the other side of soi 7 has good tables, staff, snack meals, - plus alot of upmarket type girls often gather there around 8-10pm before going of to siam Sq. etc.

The best place to play pool and see "fine" looking femaels is???
At the MP, Emmanuelle!! ha ha!! They have one table in the bar area. You can see all the ladies walking back and forth!! Also a good area to hang out while the mangers bring different females to you to find out if you want this one or that one. And, last but not least, you can also get to know the waitress and bar persons.
Okay. It's not really a pool bar, but it does have one pool table, so I thought it would qualify!! ha ha ha!!

Woodstock is a sort of pool-bar-restaurant and not a go-go bar. You won't see ladies dancing naked or hostesses harrassing you asking for a drink or a weird mamasan recommending a girl for your "night". This place has two pool tables as far as I remember and a nice big-screen for sport events. You can take a nice hamburguer at this place and have fun playing with the waitresses which are real good talkative girls. Their English is above the normal GG Girl-BG standards. Hmm maybe we can say that this place is like a "pearl of peace" in the heart of NEP. Woodstock is located in the 2nd floor of NEP very close to G-Spot. This is a good venue to have a meeting with friends as the music is not that loud and the drinks are not expensive. Give it a try....ah! you can get some printed info available about this place for free at the BTS stations....look for restaurants/Woodstock....Hope this helps....

Ah! concerning opinions on pool-bars....well, I can give the thumbs up for COUNTRY ROAD bar, which is located just steps away from ASOKE BTS Station on Soi 17 Sukumvit Rd. This place is just opposite to the SHERATON GRANDE SUKHUMVIT. There are 4 pool tables in the groundfloor and two more upstairs. American-country music is performed by a Thai band starting from 9pm onwards....More than 30 hostesses in there but couldn't spot any stunners. Some of the girls in there are old as well.....However, this is a nice place for a beer with friends and a good pool game with the "TG killers" before heading to Soi Cowboy or NEP or even Darlings Massage....Hmm another good place is the "waterfall" pool bar in Soi 7, which is located just beside the tailor's shops. Few good lookers in there but lots of competitors, je!

thanks for the info on woodstock, when I return to LOS will definetly check it out. I enjoy going to a nice place once in awhile, having a few cold ones and shooting some pool.
