bars are not allowed to serve alcoholic beverages in bangkok.
due to governor elections.
a) which areas are closed??
b) which areas are open, but not serving??
c) which areas are open, but serving??
here is what I know:
a) 22 beer bar complex
b) cowboy, nana
c) patpong 1 and 2
any updates are appreciated.

It must be frustrating for bar owners. The last election the bar closed during a Rugby Union game at half time (6pm) - didn't go down too well. We were told to go to an English pub in Lamai where they served tea & coffee. That is beer in a tea cup & wine in a coffee mug. The plod paid a visit but didn't wise up to anything

Bush Garden below was closed... probably why I couldn't get any food at S/A. Was just before 6 when I left... don't know what time Thermae normally opens but the stairwell was chained shut.

This is so damn stupid that one wonders with which head the corrupt so called "politicians" are thinking. They do their best to make people not being attracted to the country. I mean - in what way, shape, mode or form does the election in Bangkok have anything to do with what they serve tourists in bars or restaurants? Just another of these "ideas" their corrupt leadership show again and again and which I personally am getting more and more fed up with.
Just look at that massage pimp who is one of the candidates! In which other country would such a "person" be able to run for public office? Yesterday he also attacked a reporter "who did not show respect" and you might believe that some actions would be taken in order to ban him or arrest him. Oh no - not in Thailand! Some electoral board member said it was "a private matter" and legally he might face the hefty penalty of up to 1000 baht fines! This after elbowing the reporter in the face and kicking him when he was at the ground!
THAT is no problem - but to close the business for bar owners who serve mostly foreigners - is of course a very important matter.

You might want to look behind the actual reasons of 'Dry Election' laws, before spouting off, and pretending that drunk mongers represent such a significant influx to Thailand's economy (they don't).
Lastly, I'm sure it'll be refreshing to walk outside for a couple of days and not having to face the constant drone of alcoholic Brits and Aussies - and I'm sure the majority of regular tourists couldn't care less. Always amusing how a very short restriction on alcoholic consumption nearly instantly brings alcoholics to the surface spouting off...
