Koolbreeze, NYMICK & I met up with Ajarn Tom for drinks at the Black Swan and dinner at Bourbon Street. We choose the all-you-can eat buffet for 295bt. Combo of Mexican and Italian food. Not too bad (in fact, better than what I had remembered) but nothing to go out of your way for. Plus, this is one of the places that adds a 10% service charge to the quoted price.
Ajarn Tom has lived in Thailand for 9 years. Since NYMICK and Koolbreeze both are thinking about relocating to Thailand lots and lots of good information was exchanged. We had a good old time. Thanks, Tom, for all the good information.
Afterward, with Tom having to leave, we decided to stay in Washington Square and visit Wild Country first. Turns out, that was the only place we visited.
Wild Country is one of those small bars with about 5 tables in booth configuration. About 8 girls there, none higher than about a 5 in looks but with pleasant personalities. Our cokes were 50bt and LDs were 60bt - 30bt of which went to the girl.
The girls get no salary. BF is 300bt; the girls get none of this either. They make their money on the LDs, tips, and whatever else they can work out with you.
Most of the time there were just the 3 of us. Occasionally another guy wandered in, but they would soon leave.
The key to a place like this is telling the girls how many you will buy LDs for. If you say 1, and choose the 1, then the rest won't bother you. And, with LDs pretty cheap, your bill won't be sky high. (Sometimes in a place like this, where the girl has no minimum LD quota, I just let her know her tip will be big if she doesn't ask for any LDs. Then I tip her more than what she would make on LDs and we both win.)
Unlike Afterskool, which has a "naughty boy corner", Wild Country is just a "naughty boy bar". Pretty much whatever you want can be accomplished right there at the booths. Or, do takeout for 300bt. ST & LT prices "up to you".
Music was a mix of soft country and rock & roll. And, it was not loud. In many respects this was a more pleasant environment than a number of the go-go bars we have been in lately. For those who haven't tried Washington Square you might give it a go - quite different from Nana or Soi Cowboy, but not necessarily in a bad way.

Nice post. I have never tried the wild country bar and am planning to visit this on my next trip. Did you glimpse any special services going on there? Or did you partake in this? Any pointers as to how many LDs were in order...
A bit of first hand info goes a long way in planning your moves, lol...

I used to have a good time in there when I lived around the corner in 2008/9
I was back about two weeks ago & one of the gals even came out of there & insisted I come back later
when I did come back later she f***ed me off & stood outside talking on the phone while every other BG in the bar was suckin' up to other customers
I was not pleased at all
guess I should have sent to get sucked off next door at Cat's Meow
very hit & miss with Wild c*** Treet
what's f***ed up is, the more of a "regular" you are, the less likely they are to make you feel at home

that seems to be standard thai customer service.
i got my haircut at a place advertising 50%. when I went the next time and asked for the same person, I was told the price was now regular, as the discount was just for walk ins.
suggested that as a repeat customer I should get the discount, rather than some one off visit by a tourist.. they looked at me like I was crazy......

Depending upon how many other customers there are on the premises and how many drinks you are buying, anything goes at Wild Country... right there in the booths in front of god and everybody. It's not quite as blatant as Star of Light, but it is just as raunchy... maybe more. There are also ST rooms upstairs if you prefer not to be an exhibitionist... strikes me they were about b300 but don't quote me... it's been a while. It's best to be wasted, because the hygiene doesn't get much worse... and the ladies "clothes are torn and language is a little bit rough" to paraphrase Dylan. Opens about noon, for those with an early need.

I called in to Wild Country a few weeks back, at around 5pm. I hadn't been there for at least six months, but the girl behind the bar still remembered what I like to drink (Either that,or it was a lucky guess). I sat at the bar and had a quick look around, there were 3-4 other guys in there, all being looked after.
I bought drinks for three girls, and they got down to business. Two rounds of drinks later, and I was a happy punter.
As has been said before. These girls are not the best looking but, what they lack in looks, they make up for in experience. Another way to look at it is, spending time with these girls makes one appreciate the beautiful girls found elsewhere, lol. And the drinks are cheap.
A good way to spend an hour every now and again if you ask me.

I was there a week or so ago. I was the only guy in the bar and was happily being serviced in a booth by the lady of my choice. A guy comes in and sits at the bar and orders a beer. None of the available ladies would talk to him. I asked my lady what was going on. She said she had never seen this guy and didn't know why he was being ignored.
It does seem to be hit or miss...............

Enjoyed a brief visit (40 minutes or so) here on Friday night. The girls inside were absolutely aweful, in thier 40's at least, one of them looked like 50's and she was keen to blow me. Skill set or not, its obvious why tricks are cheap in here.
Outside were 2 cute girls, much younger, nicely dressed, neither had breasts !
Anyway, i'm guessing too many 'lurkers' on forums have decided to take advantage of what was a cheap time and try to get away with cheaper, because as soon as cock was in mouth, prices were instigated, 500 for BJ and 1,000 for FS, oh, and buy me one more drink only 60B. We were both dressed as sensible, earning expats, so looks did not cause the price check.
I mentioned 300B for the BJ is norm, then in Lao they started moaning about 'internet' ! I was asked why 300B, where had I seen that, who told me etc, I just said thats how much it was in the other bar round the corner somewhere. Anyway, mood killer, but cute girl got me done and dusted while older girl kept telling her in Thai to slow down, finish her drink, order another one etc.
YMMV of course, but I won't be back.
Drinks, (whiskeys and girls) + 300 each (yes the old thing barking orders who flashed tits in my mouth was apparently also due 300!) bill came to 1,700.
Incidentally, hygeine was aweful, after snogging and probing and being gobbled off, my girl left me and planted a sucker right on a gar who just entered the bar, no mouthwash, no cold towel wipe, that place MUST be STD city, not to mention cold/cough bugs they must pass on. Extremely low class.
SOL is mountains better than this.
