Just a reminder that what's cool in a go-go or beer bar or lower Sukhumvit could be a way to get your ass kicked in a room full of hundreds of Thais, many drunk on Blue Eagle whiskey. Just be cool.

Years ago the thing that first attracted me to the Country Road 2 on Sukh rd was the sound of a live band playing "Jimmy Hendrix" and "Black Sabbath's Paranoid". The same band seems to have been there for years, you cannot miss the lead guitarist; his hair has to be seen to be believed.

If you are talking about Country Road on the corner of Sukhumvit and soi 19, then yeah the live group is still there.
I was in there last week and had a good hour or so. The music was good but not too much to kill conversation.
For general info. there were about 6 bg's working in there. I would put 2 of them as 8's and the waitress who looked after us was really cute.
And if anybody likes "big" then a couple of the bar staff are in that categorie. The two big girls were sitting on stools ( I think 'cos the stool was lost beneath their arse)

Yes that is the one, I always use to have the first or two beer in there on my way to Soi Cowboy,
I think I know the one you are talking about, she normally uses two stools, and she has been there for years
Toto is checking out if it is safe for me to go back there when I am in BKK next week, some history with a TGF which is best left alone.

i think the band at bamboo is much better then cr soi 19.
But you get more classic bar band songs at cr soi19 ie. hendrix

Wow, mega-thanks. I just got a message from my travel agent so maybe I got off the waiting list for my flight--Dec. 27th from Japan. Anyhow, I will try to check out these places while in BKK.
Thanks for the caution seubeu. I can dig what you're saying and will be discrete. I can imagine, as most places in the world, rock attracts a lot of lonely dudes and get a bit mean when drunk. Of course rock lovin' chicks are special in their rarity...Any other suggestions welcomed....
