Yes. as happens at these times, the massage parlours are going to be at full stretch.
For the few places unofficially open, one will have to search.
But you will have to wade through the additional thousands of FLs on the street.
Not an unattractive chore.

Some places ( suprisingly ) will be open.
I would think it depends on how much they contribute to the monthly Policemen's Ball.
Also, the restriction is not on bars opening but upon the sale of alcohol, so be prepared to sip or guzzle from a tea cup.
As for most small massage parlours, I have no idea whether, in the normal course of the year, they have a licence to serve alcohol or not. Maybe that provision is always under the counter, as are other more expensive services.

It would be very interesting to attend a meeting where the officials decide to close all the places that is part of contributing the incomes to the Kingdom and hear the arguements. How many places now closing would be loosing thai customers? And how many tourists are part of the elections? The word "silly" comes to mind - yet one has to accept the ideas of your host country. So not much to add there. Just accept. But I wonder about the dates? Today I was shown that letter stating very sharply that the bars have to close. But it said 15 & 16 dec?? And sure - the owners who try to run around this is threatened with a holiday at the monkey house! How sweet......

closing from 18:00 on Friday night the 14th and stay closed ALL weekend,
10,000 Baht fine for each employee found working and/or 6 months in jail

This might be a stupid question--I haven't had my morning mocha yet--but:
Why are the Powers suddenly so interested in the BarGirl vote? Being mostly from Isan, they'd just vote against them even if they did go back home and register to vote.
Or if this comes from the Police, could I consider that the Opposite Faction, and so that's what they want...?
I've never seen the Police close the Entertainment Zones a weekend in advance like this, that I can recall. Has anyone else? Are all the EZ's to be closed?

"Tony" told me last night that most bars in Soi Cowboy, as far as he knows, will be closed for some if not all of the duration.
The only one he mentioned that he knew to be definitely open was Tilac bar which of course will not be serving alcohol.
