Ball in Hand. Very probably the best pool hall in Thailand.
Just my opinion but feel free to flame me anyway.
they have 4 X 8 foot tables & the balance are 9 foot.
The cues are as good as many people carry around with them i.e. excellent.
The guy said beer bars weren't getting it done. Bamboo Beer Bar equipment is crap IMHO.
Ask to play 9 ball against A or Or or however you spell it. She has long naturally curly hair. If you can beat her you are doing well. Additionally she keeps me straight on the rules as well. If she tells you that you fouled - you fouled.
She, for one, WILL NOT LET YOU WIN. She will bring her A game everytime. She will win over 50%. A small tip will suffice. Like 50 baht per hour. Om is the sweetest girl in there.
Hennig & Keith are 2 of the 4 owners. Richard is the manager (or was the last time I was in there). Richard does the retipping of the cues etc. Customary tip for your rack girl is 20 baht (as I was told by the owners). Save your money for beer. Pizza, meat pies & Subway sandwiches can be sent in.
Edit In: All my comments refer to 9 Ball; because that's all I play.
BIH tables have been re-felted. A major cash outlay.
Still want to know the name of their tables. Superior? Local made anyhow.

thats the great thing about tournaments that everyone can win. 9 ball is all about patience and striking when the time is right. I love to play 14-1 also. more of a challenge to yourself that game. anyone tried it?

Yes have played 14-1 and agree it's a great game. Only problem is I have to teach the rules to everyone because most people have never heard about it.

14.1 was THE game to play back in the 60's when I first learned to play. How many you could run was your claim to fame in the era of Mosconi runs of 400+ and 521.
Positioning that break ball for the next rack was the critical positioning required. Now with 9 Ball the most popular game you need good position on EVERY shot.
It is a different world now.

if you're looking to play 9-ball against a variety of opponents (women and men, good to very good) on good competition level tables, you should also check out this place called Afterwork. It's at the corner of Sukhumvit Road and Soi 19, on the 2nd floor above Country Road Bar. Go up the stairs next to the entrance of Country Road.
2 full size (9ft) tables exclusively for 9-ball, on most nights 5-15 people playing 9-ball, most of whom have their own cues and play a lot. Competitive but easygoing - for example, an unwritten house rule is that if you do an early combo on the 9-ball, it gets respotted and you get ball in hand and carry on playing. I like that.
Check it out. Convenient location right next to Asoke BTS station and a friendly atmosphere. Lots of regulars, but everyone's welcome and the friends that I've taken there have all liked it and became regulars themselves.
To be fair, Ball In Hand on soi 4 is still the best place for serious pool and 9-ball in BKK as they have so many tables and even the house cues are of pretty good standard. So it's definitely worth a visit, but I personally find Afterwork more fun and it's easier to get to play 9-ball with a variety of opponents there.

yeah.. as long as its not for money or in a tournament this is what we/i practise at home. the shame I feel if I with a lucky shot dropped the nine is not very plesant. but ofcourse if you dont have a choice, you dont have a choice...
will defidently chech out that place!

For pool I think after work soi 19, 2nd floor for sure.
2 pro tables
3 small tables.
Holds regular competitions some real good players there as well.
I think the tables at the ball in hand have seen beter days they need re felting. Still a good place though.
The 2 pro tables at soi 19 are in mint condition. The balls run true and strait and the the balls are in mint condition also.

I will!;) theres nothing (actually quit a few things but for the sake of my point, lets say not..) like playing on fresh filthing (spellcheck) and polished balls with a new glued tip and the best mcdermot cue. man, the effect you get is awesome. I can pull the cue ball after hitting a ball across the table, pull it all the way back then almost half the table beck again. you didnt understand.. neither did I when I read it myself. gees I need a english lesson;)

That's a hell of a draw and I guess my mind must be as screwed up as yours as I understood it.
Not too many people play straight pool. Henning does. I do when my friend is in town, but I'm not a good player per se (though that's all relative).
Almost all the non-private large pool tables have been mentioned here.
BALL IN HAND: Can get very smokey in the evening.
BRUNSWICK: I prefer the staff at Ball in Hand, and the atmosphere at Brunswick. Brunswick also has the plus of having good food like the 1/2 chicken. Delicious.)
HILLARY 2: On Soi 4. Second floor has two full sized tables only rentable by the hour. Still pretty nice as they are new.
AFTERWORK: Or whatever that's on top of country road on Soi 19
BLUE (or red, I keep forgetting) PARROT: Located on the second floor in the building between Patpong 1 and Patpong 2 that borders Suriwong Road.
BAR ACROSS NEW WAVE (don't know the name) : There's a bar/restaurant right across New Wave on Suk. Soi 7 that's got a large table with many miles on it.
Think that about covers it for full sized tables. I don't think there are any in the Soi 22 complex of beer bars would be happy if someone corrected me 
All the other places mentioned like Bamboo and Factory have small bar tables. Usually coin op. As for quality of play, I'd say some are easily impressed. Though I prefer having fun. Haven't stepped foot in Bamboo in quite some time. Staff is great. The thai's are nice, but I've met the ruddest farang's in there so I tend to stay away prefering lower testosterone areas.

I Think that Ball in Hand used to be the place to go BUT Afterwork soi 19 above Country Rd has something special going on, the atmosphere is great fun and friendly some really good players there mixed handicapped 9 ball tournaments every 2 weeks, a girlfriend of mine won the last won, amazing but she is good. next competition is 3rd July only 500 Baht entry and free hotdogs all day.
check out these players Risto ( owner) Steve ( Manager ) and people like Julian, Antti, Ammy, Wa San. really nice people.
I think the top 5 in bangkok are as follows for good 9 ball.
Afterwork soi 19
Ball in Hand soi 4
Hillary Soi 4
Red parrot, Patpong.
Brunswick soi 4
