Not a cowboy fan myself since the smoking ban and the areas appeared outside it lost its allure for me that and normal tourists. One of the nice things about NP is a lot of people stay out.
Best would be to move to another area entirely which has been tried over the years [soi 1] if NP was gone this magnet or vacuum would need to be filled a new area would have more chance to prospere than previously.
The area at the end of soi 18 would be ideal kick the driving range out [if its still there] im sure it would be good for local businesses RTB for one and would connect nicely with SC. That or another area deeper in soi4 or thereabouts. Im sure something will materialise it always does.In pattaya they are cleaning up areas while new areas appear palms are greased TIT.

Does it really matter? The nature of Thai culture is that there was entertainment offerings on the side for males, for hundreds of years. It did not start with R & R for US soldiers during the Vietnam War. IF one place goes, the offerigns are still to be found somewhere else.
If western, single males stop going to LOS there still s a culture catering to males.
If you want it you'll find it.

Good observation. I think LOS also caters to females' need for entertainment. There is P4P for females, unlike most other Asian countries where it is non-existent or sacrilegious to even consider. You can see female tourists enjoying themselves at many bars, at NEP, PP and Cowboy, at the MPs even.

Have you been to Cowboy lately? What you describe has already happened! Modern-day Soi Cowboy is no longer the relaxed place it used to be 10+ (or even 5) years ago.
I rarely go to Nana Plaza anymore, but I don't think it's any worse than Soi Cowboy and in some ways actually better. To some of us, who experienced these places 10 or 20 years ago, a trip to any one of Patpong, Cowboy, or Nana, can be a very depressing experience these days.

Couldn't agree more, its the main reason those places only see my custom once or twice every 2 months despite living here (and its not a cost issue, just a fun factor).
It's all too business like these days, marrying a bar girl was never a good idea, even 10 yrs ago, but I really feel sorry for the guys just discovering the scene now and marrying one, It's always been business with a few rays of sunshine, but i'd offer that those rays have been truly covered with deep, torrential thunderstorm clouds these days and it's ALL about the money...for ALL of them...EVERYTIME.
