sorry, but many gogo's these days cater for asian tourists, esp. in patpong and the rainbow bars in nana.
aren't the beer bars the places who do exclusively and only deal with farangs as any asian fellow would be to ashamed sitting there with some lowlifes?

Years ago I stumbled into a bar -I can't remember if it was near Nana or Soi Cowboy- that had a kind of intimacy and easy that I rarely found in other bars. More like a Japanese snack. Sofas and coffee tables and overdressed women hanging lightly onto you as your drank...very talkative and good natured at the same time. Soft evocative lights and music.
I'm not looking for this exact place (it may have been part of an alcoholic delirium) but if anyone knows of something like it in Bkk today, let me know. I'm arriving in a few days and earger to avoid old errors.

Sounds Soi 33-ish to me. It's a short walk from Soi Cowboy and has a number of bars that are similar to your description.
