BK, thank you. The bar would certainly welcome the business and do everything possible to show you a good time.
But this a good jumping off point for a few general remarks.
1) VJ won't be doing it alone, though he's willing to a lot of the heavy lifting and act as point man for now.
2) VJ might not have anything to do with the actual operation. That would be a role filled at the direction of the ownership group. No way do I have the cash to be majority owner and I think that would be a very unhealthy business structure anyway.
Also if the majority of the owners elected to take the business in a direction I wasn't comfortable with, I'd want to excuse myself from the venture. Examples of things I would walk away from include a money laundry, a gay bar, a brothel and there are others, too. I have my comfort zone and couldn't work happily or productively outside of it.
3) Just to say that there is no formal relationship between the bar venture and this board at this time and there's no current plan to form one. If a deal arose that made good sense for both sides, then perhaps, but for now these are completely seperate.
This just happens to be the place where the idea was hatched and BK has very kindly allowed it the formative communications to continue here. My thanks to him. BK's offer to bring the RT around is very generous and a flattering bit of ego-boost for me.

With current asking prices of 5-7.5 million, how many people would you need at US$250 per head?

Want real? Okay, you'll get real. Some people have expressed interest in getting in for a healthy multiple of that number. $250 a pop would be tough sledding, $2500 or $25,000 less tough. It's up to the individual to determine their own comfort level in the venture, take stock of their own expectations, weigh the risks against the rewards, etc.
Some people see the front end of the proposition- take a flyer with $250 and enjoy the fringe benefits when they are in town.
Others focus on the back end of the proposition- a competent management team with stockholder oversight executes a well-prepared business plan and drives profits and grows the value of the business, leading to expansion, secondary acquisitions or resale at a profit freeing cash for other ventures.
To each his own. All are welcome to inquire at least.

Start at page 1, please, if you are new to this thread.
To date I've received by PM about a dozen serious inquiries and about that same number again asking for more information. If you've been sitting on the fence waiting for others to move first, be assured that they have.
The amount of money that has been conditionally promised (seven digits of baht) is not yet enough to make a properly funded acquisition (also seven digits of baht in all likelihood), but is sufficient to prove that there is a genuine desire to go forward and make this a reality. Thanks to everyone who has responded so far- the interest expressed in 5 short days has been nothing short of amazing.
