Hi all..great forum..my first post !
Pardon my ignorance but is there a higher dress code in the Soi 33 bars ? I usually wear a decent pair of shorts and sandals (no socks !) with a polo shirt when I'm out and about in BKK. Any likely problem getting into the Green Parrot, Monet etc dressed like this ? Many thanks.

The better you're dressed there is more chance of getting more attention from the girls as they think you have money, more girls, more Lady Drinks, higher the price for either ST or LT. It's a viscious circle isn't it.

As Dr Love said, no one will keep you out. But you might feel more comfortable in the bars dressed in long pants or jeans, like almost everyone else that goes there wears.
But, no one will turn you away.

AVA Bar, soi 11 sukhumvit.
Was drinking with a PR girl in early October, and she stated that barfine was 1,500 bht. She also said that she didn't normally go with customers for boomboom, but would go out for dinner, dancing, and maybe if she liked them, something more. I never did find out what she cost. 19, very cute.
Hey; Soi 33 action close to Nana. They're dressed nice too.

My comments here are not confined to Soi 33 but I didn't want to start a new thread & a search for "over charge" brought up this thread.
The topic is "Over Charge". I have noticed what can only be described as an epidemic of incorrect bar bills turning up all over the place. My first trip to Bamboo Bar saw me get presented an inflated bill. I looked at it; did some mental arithmetic & told the server/waitress that the number was incorrect. She said "let me check" - a few minutes later she came back telling me that a new cashier had made a mistake totaling up the bill.
You will all recall a members comments at getting the wrong change at Bus Stop.
I saw LY get overcharged twice in one afternoon. At Bamboo he queried it & got something like 300 baht back after having someone else's tickets in his cup. That amounts to a bar fine in some places.
In the next place he suspected some extra charges but close inspection revealed that all the chits were indeed his.
I want to stress that I am not accusing anyone of being dishonest. However the shocking frequency with which these incidents are happening leads me to believe that this is a widespread problem.
Lots of punters are tipsy & pay whatever bill comes. Point being - check your bill (invoice) carefully. As the Bus Stop incident illustrates - have sufficient notes of varying denominations so that you can get close when the invoice arrives.
It will be worth your while to inspect your bill carefully - ditto your change. If the change is incorrect - walk over to the cashier, with your server - 9 times out of 10 they will cheerfully correct the mistake.
If you are getting overcharged consistently in any watering hole please post that info on BTF.

hmm, Bamboo Bar used the same excuse with me, "new cashier", on our afternoon there with TJ & CyBorg
either a lame excuse, or they have a pretty hard time keeping a cashier 
Just can't imagine why they'd try that on a guy who'd had only a few beers in mid-afternoon instead of the blokes who are pissed up good at 11pm
Actually, the slips/bills were correct, they just added over 360 Baht right on the top 
I was still being suspicious at Ball in Hand & was also not used to paying 240b/hour. I'm used to those lesser quality tables & gear at Morning Night where TJ & I let Udorn Honey 2 - UH2 play to her hearts content at 20b/game & Annie's (right next to Ball in Hand) for same price
some may take the piss of Dusa for checking the bills & being careful how you pay etc, but it's good advice

easiest way to avoid overcharging is to buy a bottle of liquor straight away! saves you on drinks cost and does avoid overcharging! plus the girls who will sit and drink with you from your bottle and not the expensive ladydrinks are usually also fun after in the bedroom!

Perhaps a new thread is the appropriate place for a discussion on "over charges" particularly since you mention places in NEP & SC (and this is a Soi 33 thread). And yes, I know many of you believe that prices on Soi 33 are outrageous, although I remain a fan.
Just my 2 baht.
