from my time in Egypt in particular, I was told that "Arabs" were those from the Gulf states in particular. Not true from your perspective?

We are in a place that is very different and have acccordingly adjusted our perspective. šIf you choose not to do the same, then you are not atypical of Falangs who come here for very limited reasons and while I'm sure you'll have a good time, I doubt you'll ever feel "at home" nor will you ever understand the rest of what I would like to post...

Here's an interesting article on the subject that I have picked up on CNN. šI also came across the article on a local newspaper and it was more detailed; however, I could not find it on the paper's website. šThe article on my local paper explained that the ruling was very specific to this case and it would be very difficult to apply it to another case.

I used to wonder about the Japanese only locations, and actually spent some time studying them.
Conclusions reached are
the girls are the same as everywhere else - within reason
prices are much higher

Are you asking why Japanese go there or why farang would want to?
The japanese guys go there because they are comfortable around other people who speak japanese and behave like japanese people. The same reason many Brits would feel more comfortable in a British pub than a german beer hall. The girls may not seem more beautiful to you, but they may to the Japanese (just as girls in Thai MPs aren't prettier in my eyes). Presumably the girls are selected (either intentionally or by natural selection) to be more in touch with japanese tastes and they have definitely been taught how to behave around japanese men.
So the reason a non-japanese might want to go there is then obvious; he has some affinity for japanese style and culture. Of course, for many of us it is just something new and different, and the allure of a locked door is quite powerful, regardless of what is on the other side.
